vaccination question

soo i have a question my son is now 7 weeks old, 1 week and 5 days adjusted.. and he still hasnt received any of his vaccines.. they want to do them at his 2 month check up.. my question is did they do this to your preemie also?? or is it just my doctor??

no they do them at 2, 4, 6, 8 months. And so on.

My little girl is11 weeks oldold. 1 week 1 day adjusted age. She got the shots at her 2 month checkup that any normal 2 month old would get.

but did she get the first set of shots?? like at the hospital??

The only one she got at the hospital was the hep B shot the day before she went home.

yeah that was myu question.. my son didnt get any shots!! at all!! so now ima little worried... i always see u online..   i hope u dont mind if i PT u

Not at all!   I like having other preemie moms to talk to. Are you sure? (Not saying that you don't know)Most hospitals won't let you leave until theyget it or you sign a waiver. I wouldn't worry about it. They will justgive it to him at the drs appointment if you choose to get it.

well yeah i dont sign no waiver.. but when we were leaving the NICU I asked for his shoot card and the nurse told me that they dodnt give him any shots that because he was too small to get shots.. he as 4 pounds when he left the NICU when i took him to get his checkup i was expecting them to give him his first set of shots but the doctor said they were gonna wait until his 2 month visit. but me and my hubby have been thingking.. we havent even really taken him anwhere because we dont want him to get something... u know what i mean since he never got any shots..

Hmm..thats weird. Bella was 4 lbs 1 oz when we left and they still gave her the hep B shot. At her 2 month vist she got MMR, DTaP, and 2 others I can't think of now. She was only 5 lbs 5 ozs when she got all her shots at the doctor. I don't really take Bella anywhere either. I know this is overkill but I'm paranoid, 2 kids have died here from swine flu so I am freaking out. If we do go anywhere I keep her in her travel system with both canopys up so no one can see her or mess with her. Being preemie their immune systems aren't up to par so it's alot easier for them to catch something.

My son got a hep b and rsv shots while he was in the NICU...he was 6 weeks early and weighed 4lbs 1oz when i left the hospital with him...when he started going to the dr, they gave him shots as they would any other baby....i even asked if it was ok for him to get all of them on time since he was early and they said yes.

My son did not get any shots at the hospital, and my doctor went by his adjusted age for his shots.

my daughter didn't get any vaccinations at birth (25 weeker) but at her 2 month mark they started her vaccines. the only vaccine they gave her before then was Synagis.

alexander is getting his monday at his 2 month check up 

we're holding off on vaccinating for a while. we saw several little ones in the nicu have major setbacks following vaccination. (like having to go back on cpap or cannula... stopping digestion- thus stopping feeds... infection... etc.)
they've given us no end of grief about it, but we're not willing to do it. the DPT is especially hard on babies... they can't make you do it ever, at any time. it is totally voluntary.
i asked the doctor if she would give the same dosage of tylenol to me that she would give to a baby.... of course not! so why would i give her the same dosage of polio??!!
we are doing the synagis when the clinic starts up. the synagis is an injection of the actual antibody, not the virus, so it doesn't have the same chemicals in it. it is also adjusted for weight. (and of course, RSV poses a much greater risk to preemies than the other viruses they typically vaccinate for.)
