Breastfeeding question.

Is it possible to only nurse at night?
Or will your breastmilk supply go significantly down and not be enough to nurse? I don't want to stop nursing but there is no way for me to pump at work...we are short staffed and busy. I try to nurse my little guy right after work and I even shortened my daily hours at work to 6hours instead of 8hours. I try to pump but not very much comes out (I don't have the best pump, First Years, but it's better than a manual pump, I didn't know better and thought I was buying a good one and can't afford to buy a nice one)
Thanks for any comments.
(P.S. and to all the Nazi's out there...YES I did use the search option and nothing at all came up.)

yes it is i ended up doing that your body will adjust and you will leak very heavy for a little bit but yes you can

You can.. but I do think it would effect your supply... since it is about supply and demand.. if you are nursing less, you will make less... but it's possible.

I breastfeed in the morning and at night. I don't know from experience if you can only bf at night or not but I DO know you will maintain a great supply nursing twice a day.

I think it could be possible. You may be able to cue your body to produce during those times. Good luck mama.

Thanks for all the positive feedback I am getting.
I'm not thinking of doing this until my little guy is 1 year old. He is 8 months now....and I breastfeed him anytime he wants it, when I am not working. It's hard but he is well worth it!

If he would take a bottle and then take the breast without problems, I don;t see why not. However, I don't know if he will agree with the bottle, especially if he is used to the boob. Anyway, milk production is all about supply and demand, so if you only nurse him at night, then this is the time that your body will make milk. During the rest of the time, your body will slowly stop producing.
on a side note: No pump will ever be as efficient as a baby, so don't beat yourself up for not being able to pump much. Pumping, if you want results, must be done every 2-3 hours on the dot and not miss a session in order to get results.
good luck!

Sometimes it depends on the mom...but there are plenty of women out there who do morning/night but not during the day. The biggest thing will be keeping baby on a slow flow nipple during the day and such to make sure baby still has a preference for breast, otherwise you run pretty good odds that the bottle will become the preferable method.
