k, I'll start.. haha..

while your breastfeeding will the babies sucking motion alone cause the milk to come out? Or will you have to push on your breast at all?

Okay, some help please!

This didnt happen to me last time,so I really have no clue! Gustav has thrush in his mouth I did get him medicine against it yesterday (gawd! took ages Doc not around, chemist computer broken down all sorts)

Now though, my poor nipples are feeling super sore and I suspect that he might have passed it on. I do have a sore nipple cream but he doesn't approve, is there anything I can do, that does not involve the doctors as they are closed, to make it better?

You do not have to "push" on your breast, but you can gently massage your breast and usually more milk will come out. At least it does for me. It also helps with engorgement. Also, sometimes I have to gently squeeze by my nipple so she can latch on better.

Do you have an out of hours doctor. As far as I know thrush on the nipple needs medical attention, but you could always try natural yoghurt, it helps for thrush down below and nappy rash, so it should work on thrush on nipples

Others have already answered this correctly, but I did want to add that some have an abundant supply of milk, so much so that you might end up squirting your baby in the face.   I've had that happen before, especially when it's been a little longer between feedings. She'll latch on and then take it out of her mouth for a moment and I either drip all over her, or in the process of putting it back in her mouth squirt milk at her. Luckily not in the eye, but ya gotta watch your aim sometimes.

lol. I actually did that today. I sometimes squeeze a bit out and to get her attention and today i squirted all over her forehead. Thats the first time I;ve seen it squirt like that and it amused me.
I could take aim with these things!!

Nope, No pushing required - I have overactive let down so if I pushed I would probably drown Cass
And ladies - I've actually squirted milk at myself while pumping and almost made it in my mouth tonight (NOT ON PURPOSE!   ) I was squeezing my nipple to try to get it stimulated a lil and I guess I had it pointed too high and I hit my chin.

Ok I have 5 week old twins and they both have thrush. I have the Nystatin oral drops for their mouths and also the Nystatin cream for my breasts since I breastfeed. You really have to get the cream whether you think you have thrush on your nipples or not because if you don't you and your baby can keep passing it on to each other. There is a vinegar and water solution you can use on your breasts but you still will have to go to the doctor.

I used a breast shield by Medula for nearly 3 months because my son bit and couldn't latch on. This will take away pain enough to continue feeding.

And... MM I remember you from prego boards and your son was just a twinkle in your eye. I am SOOOO happy for you that you've made it so far along!!!

As far as breast feeding goes. My biggest suggestion is to have a DAMN good hospital nurse/ midwife, whatever or know what you're doing before you give birth. I dind't know and had a screaming baby at 2am after 48 hours of labor and I had no idea how to feed/pacify him. The nurse told me to watch a DVD over the screams of my new baby. It has taken us 3 months to get the hang of breastfeeding.

It DOES NOT hurt at all if you do it right. (When I left the hospital my nipples were bloody from the baby and his bad latches). Thanks to no help from the nurses!!!!

Oh geez, I had that too for the first seven weeks until my supply evened out....she'd pull away because she was choking on my milk and then I'd have four streams shooting off in all directions and I'd be diving for the burp rag, breast pad...anything handy to try and stop it so I could get her latched back on!! lol I can't say I ever squirted myself...but the furniture and my baby got covered plenty of times. lol

My aim is superb. I've managed to cover her face before now lol

Now if I'm springing a leak, she'll just lay there, her mouth about an inch from my nipple and open her mouth, and giggle at it. She's a funny one. Her dad has got her compying his putting fists up, so every so often she'll be in her moses basket, start jumping laughing and sticking her doots up. Its a scream.. Makes up for the bad nights. I could watch her for hours if she'd let me, but then she pretends to go all coy, as soon as I go to turn away she's at it again with her tongue sticking out...bear in mind, she's only 2 months old...its ccrraaazzyy!!!
