My back feels like it's being scooped out by a dull spoon.

Or stabbed by a very dull knife.

I have been having back labor all freaking day. I called Labor and Delivery, and they said to wait until I was having them at about 5 minutes apart... pretty consistantly. Well... I"m not. For the past hour, it's mainly been 6 minutes, 5 minutes, 9 minutes, ONE minute between, etc... I don't know what to freaking do. The hospital is a half hour or so away, and we can't afford to drive there only to be sent back home in a few hours. But I'm in extreme pain. Extreme. I can't eat, I can't drink... I can't sleep. I can't rest, really. I don't know what to do. I don't know if I need to call them or not. Because I'm afraid they'd only say "You have to wait" and I would only get more frustrated. But this is awful.

I'm just afraid. Hubby is asleep. I have noone to comfort me.   Please, help!

call them and tell them what you just said here and see what they say! i know, back labor sucks sooo bad, i'm sorry   i wish you luck, though

I did, and went in. They kept me overnight... and gave me something for the pain... that didn't do much other than make me extremely drowsy. So I slept and woke up during contractions and when I had to go pee. I'm 2 cm dilated now... maybe things will pick up. I hope they do. They sent me back home because I wasn't really progressing. BUT... now I don't have those lovely pain meds that made me fall asleep. I'm tired! *sigh*
