Also, when did your LO's start taking an interest in the TV?

Cecilia is JUST beginning to show interest (I don't put anything on for her, but just when Scarlett is watching something, she will watch casually) and even still she's not zoned out to the TV, she will just look once in a while for a minute or two. She will be 6 months old in less than a week.

Scarlett on the other hand, she would completely zone out to the tv since she was about 2 months old... Now I'm wondering if maybe that is part of the reason she has delays, or if maybe that was an early sign that she was more interested in the tv than the world around her. Idk, maybe it's nothing, but it's shocking to me how little Cecillia cares for TV when Scarlett absolutely loved it even as a newborn.

Paige didn't start showing interest in tv until about 1-2 months ago (she was 19 months old). I think I am the only parent in the world who was worried about their kid NOT watching tv, haha!

Theresa I really sheltered Jamil for a long time even not really letting Kam watch tv in the room as him, until about 10 months old, By then he LOVED it, and would sit and watch a whole show...

Quinton on the other hand really doesn't care at all, He was the same way as Cecila, and now he'll sit and watch barney for a bit, but still really wont watch tv.. My nephew just after 2 started sitting to watch shows, but even still isnt' zoned into it unless there singing..

I've been wondering the same thing with toys, Jamil always had to have toys to look at or play with when we were out, Quinton I never had to take much he just wanted me to stare at him

I knew you were an OG I just totally forgot your original name haha.

People, especially family and friends, were making me feel so horrible because Anthony couldn't talk yet. A speech therapist came to evaluate him and I took him for more testing this morning. The first woman who came wrote down that Anthony may have autism, but today the person said she doesn't think that at all. I just wish he spoke more because we both get frustrated and that's not good.

We have had only one session of speech therapy and Anthony learned so much already, it's amazing. I wish I had known there was this program longer, I would have started him earlier.

I just got an amazing book called It Takes Two to Talk... (AMAZING) to bad it was $50!   I'm only in the first part and already finding things I'm not doing, and what I could be doing! I'll post some more stuff as I get more in, It sucks I wish I had more time to be on here, I'm struggling to keep it all up (house, hubby, Jamil etc..)

As far as Autism.. It's far more complicated than most people think... We had 5 people tell us no, (only to find out he does) but I had suspicions all along, evne though I doubted it for a LONG time too... The more I read about it and understand it, the less awful it seems...

I'm still worried, but the more I read about symptoms, the less I think he has it. I just hope that if he does have it, we find out soon.

a lot of people push it as a diagnosis, so many people are suspecting and kids are getting labeled without really having it..

It's a social/communication problem more than just a speech thing ya know, so lack of pointing or even trying to communicate, lack of showing you items, I didn't realize how much typically developing children share interest until I started babysitting, that kid is shoving things in my face all day my son was never like that..

That's what got me concerned in the first place... my cousin's child is five months younger and I just never knew how different my son is. I started to take care of another child for a friend who is around my son's age and it has opened my eyes.

Nichole (and Christina), I am going to the girls' doctor on the 9th for Cecilia's 6 month check up and I intend on asking to get Scarlett evaluated at CHOP and hoping to either get a diagnosis or (hoping even more) not to. But I am beginning to think she may have autism, too. She LOVES people, but she is a very independent player and only really involves others when she needs help, so we'll see...

Hello Ladies! My name is Helen, my daughter Jayden just turned two in Sep. She got evaluated on oct 7 and had more then a 25% delay in 4 of the 5 catergorys. She only says 3 words Hi, mum, and yay but not even on a daily basis. She started DT 3 weeks ago and OT today. ST will be coming soon they wanted to get her more develpmentally caught up first. They said she has a sensory processing disorder the the OT will be working with us on. I read a couple pages back about somesones child not wanting to show you things, not pointing, not communitcating, my daughter doesnt do those things either but they havent said anything about autisum, should i ask them about it? They said that i should see a huge improvement in her by the time my next child gets here. So im very excited
