big red bumps on the back of her tongue

My daughter is 17months and i noticed after i gave her a bath that she has these big bumps on the back of her tongue near her throat. They dont hurt her and i dont think they itch. They look a little swollen and her tongue is kind of red. Im taking her to the dr in the morning but has anyones LO had anything like this.

I get those when I eat citrus because i'm allergic to it. They go away once my mouth calms down a little bit and the acidity dies.

no. Its just the bumps on her tongue

My little brother had a weird thing called "geographical tongue" when he was a baby. The surface of his tongue just started peeling off in sections. It started with raised red patches. It didn't seem to bother him though and his tongue is completely normal now.

I doubt that's what it is. Probably just some sort of viral infection or reaction to a new food.

we did have something new for dinner tonight maybe thats what it is. Im going to call the pedi in the morning just to see what she thinks. Can her tongue swell up?? Would it swell up?? Im scared now.

yeah, it never hurts to get it checked out. When I filled in as a nurse in a pedi's office we always had parents bring their kids in for any rash or anything like that because it's hard to diagnose without seeing it in person.

I have geographic tongue!!!!
Mine just makes my tongue white looking though, with patches, I have never had bumps.

I have never met anyone else who has it!

Man, my tongue hurts with sooooo many different foods. Nothing really causes me to swell though. Like bananas just make my tongue raw. I would guess that if she has no pain thats probably what it is. Just a surface reaction to a new food.

could be hand foot and mouth disease.

i believe thrush has white spots.

it does but if it's irratated they can sometimes become red, it's not likely though. thrush is usually accompanied with a diaper rash from yeast.
