Quoting jamils_mommy: Can you guys tell me the difference in high functioning autism and asburgers? I know many people with ... [snip!] ... resopnd to any questions like do you want this etc and were really workig on it he seemed to almost have it and now it's goneIt is actually Asperger's Syndrome. I used to misspell it when I first got diagnosed and looked it up. From what I hear AS and High functioning are so very similar. I am not sure what the differences are, but when I was first learning about AS this is the site that saved my life and really helped me to learn.

Quoting jamils_mommy: thank you when I get a few minutes to concentrate Ill read it I book marked it! I really appreciate ... [snip!] ... told that's an aspergian trate (not sure if that's a real word I read it in the book look me in the eye, has anyone read that?It is a great site with lots of info. I found out that I had AS about 2 months before my 21st birthday. It was hard to learn, but good to finally have a reason behind my quirks. I don't think I remember much more about being young than an average kid. I do have an eye for detail though.

Quoting jamils_mommy: what led to you going for diagnosis? If you don't mind my asking?I was in college. I was on a team and got kicked off due to my issues. Sent home for the summer. I decided to go back to the shrink thinking just my ADHD and Manic Depression, but nope finally there was a name for what was going on with me, beyond me being a misbehaved child. AS was not diagnosable till 95, I got diagnosed in 98. Tough to grow up with something when no one knows what it is. I am so glad the spectrum is getting the recognition it deserves. I believe with early knowledge, intervention, and research there may be more options to help people out. Even if there is not a cure or any form of medication I believe that there is hope for a better future then what I grew up with.
