weaning from formula

i havent the slightest idea what to do about it.

my little boy will be 1 next month on the 15th and i dont even know where to start..

anyone care to share advice?  

Kailee was on 6 oz bottles, so we did a 6 week transition.

Week 1: 5 oz formula 1 milk
Week 2: 4 oz formula 2 milk
Week 3: 3 oz each
Week 4: 2 oz formula, 4 milk
Week 5: 1 oz formula, 5 milk
Week 6: All milk

She wouldnt switch cold turkey, we tried.

I'm starting now, my LO is 9 1/2 months old ( before ANYONE decides to shit a BG brick, his pedi gave me the go ahead, and it shouldn't really bother you anyways.  )

Last week I started with 2oz of whole milk and 6 oz of formula, this week I'm going 4oz of milk and 4 oz of formula, then next week I'll do 6oz of milk and 8 oz of formula. Then by the time he is 10 1/2 months he'll be on milk 100%

If your LO is on table food you don't need to worry to much about nuritents, but my pedi gave me a prescription of vitamins to put in my LO's bottles since he doesn't eat alot of table food yet.

It worked great for us.

ETA: Especially because I wanted to really check her for milk allergies. So this way was the best way to do it and I didnt change anything else in her diet those 6 weeks.

I started SLOWLY weaning at 6 months

6 months-started sippy cup
7-8 months-only offered bottle at naptime(s) and bedtime and middle of the night
9 months-took away the middle of the night bottles
10 months-took away the naptime bottle
11 months-down to ONE bottle at bedtime
11 1/2 months -totally bottle/formula broke and drinking cows milk.

I didn't transition..I wasn't about to keep buying formula any longer than I had too   I offered 2oz of cows milk at 11 1/2 months and she LOVED It. . Simple !

her cousin was still on the bottle and i worried it would entice my daughter to sneak it..but she NEVER attempted to drink from a bottle again.

Now breaking her from the Paci was ALOT ALOT HARDER and she was 2yrs old before i got that habit broke.

i switched both my kids around 9.5-10 months (at my pedis ok)

I just started by switching 1 bottle to milk, with the rest of the bottles being formula. did that for a few days then switched to 2 bottles of milk the rest form, did that for a few days ect till they were on only milk.

The 2nd to last formula bottle i took away was the first one in the morning, and the last one to go was the one before bed

Isn't it ashame you have ALWAYS throw out there "my pedi said its okay" or else some of these bg hags will get on your case
