getting baby to sleep in crib

posted 11th Aug
Hi ladies. I just bought my 7mth old her crib. I tried putting her in it last night and she was not having it. She was fine after she fell asleep.
I bf her which made it easier for her to sleep with me but now she's gotten so big and moves so much that it was time for her to move on.
I know its not going to be a smooth transition but what did u ladies do to make it easier?

you could try putting something that smells like you securely somewhere so that she can smell you still....

Well Aspen was just under 3 months old when I ddi it, so it was probally easier for me.. But we would nurse in the rocking chair and daddy would read a story then he was half asleep by then so we put him in the crib, turned on the fan and left the room...10 mins later check on him and he is FAST asleep. We haven't changed that routine, it seems to work for us

ETA : The move was from a bassinet to the crib

My boy is almost 8 months old and we put him in his crib a few weeks ago. He is fine for the most part but sometimes he wakes up and can't get back to sleep on his own. I have to rock him for 15-20 min and lay him back down. I think he wakes up and doesn't know where he is   He doesn't cry or anything, he just plays. I work full time so it has been hard getting up here and there but I know that is the only way he will learn.

BTW, we have never co slept. He slept in his pack n play next to my bed since birth. Maybe try putting her to sleep and then putting her into her own bed?

yea that's what i had to do yesterday. We put her in and she wasn't having it. We were in the same room my bf was like let her cry. I said if we weren't in the room i would but her looking at us and crying makes me feel bad.

I'll try when she's super sleepy.

When I moved my kids from my bed to thier own beds (it was a toddler bed for my son, a crib for my daughter) I started by doing nap time in their beds. At night time, its too easy for me to give in and put them in my bed with me. I also established a consistent bed time routine for a while. I would do the bed time routine and still keep them in my bed, and eventually do the bed time routine and put them in their own bed so they still understand its bed time.

With Kaden, I started putting him down in his crib at 3 months old and it was a pretty easy transition after the first few nights. He wouldn't sleep in his bassinnet though, so for the first three months I slept onmy sectional sofa with him, it was really crappy. With my daughter, I am going to start off from day 1 putting her in the crib and sleep in her room with a trundle bed that I have. I don't want to have to transition this time.

I'm having the opposite problem. Izzy has been sleeping on her own, but lately she wakes up and wants to sleep with me. So, after 7 mos of sleeping on her own, she's already getting into my bed during the night!

Awwww Izzy wants to be with mommy. I can't imagine the bond you have with her.
im ok with waking up and getting her seeing the crib is in my bedroom when its time for feedings. Its just getting her to lay down.

Lately I've been laying her in bed with me at night, and then once she falls asleep, we put her in her bed. She's still sleeping in her cosleeper, right next to me. We have the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper. I don't know if she wants to be closer to me, or if she just likes my bed better! Lol! She seriously stretches out and takes up half the bed! My husband and I try to get comfortable on his half of thebed.
