Zantac during pregnancy?

I've had extremely bad acid reflux for the past couple of weeks. So bad that I can't even sleep unless I sleep sitting up. I called my midwife and she said I could try Zantac. Has anyone else been told that Zantac is safe during pregnancy?
I wouldn't even be taking it if it wasn't so bad. My throat hurts all the time because of the acid. It feel like I can't even swallow, like the food just sits in my throat! It's unbearable! I've had 3 ulcers, so I'm a little worried about the damage the acid could do to my asophagus.

I take it.

Most heartburn/GERD medications are safe during pregnancy.

It works really good, I love it.

It's safe. I took Zantac the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy with my son because my heartburn was so bad, and he is perfectly healthy. I just started taking it again this time, because it started up again.

took it all the time my third trimester, my doctor suggested it, dont think i couldve made it without it, its perfectly safe, u can only take up to so many mg's a day though and i cant remember how much that was- feel better!

Oh good! It's just been aweful! I took it once and then I had a friend who said she never heard about it being safe during pregnancy, and I got a little worried! Whew! That's a relief! I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't take it, it worked so well! Thanks ladies!

When you get it, you'll either have to take it twice a day or 4X a day, and if you pretty much take it around the same time every day, it will work WONDERS. It definitely effects me if I dont take a dose. My acid reflux comes back INSTANTLY. So just remember to keep taking it

No problem! 

I took Nexium during pregnancy because zantac didn't work for me. Now I'm breast feeding I take zantac because nexium isn't safe to take. The zantac works now I'm not pregnant. Just something to keep in mind

Ok, my mom mentioned something about nexium and prilosec having new studies that came saying they cause osteoperosis, so I wasn't sure if that could damage the babies bones since they are still forming. But the Zantac has been working great. Hopefully I won't have to try to find anythiing else that works! Thanks for the info!
