My crazy labor story and pics!

Well, it was the 4th of July and all day my girls were beating me up from the inside! I even posted a thread later that evening about how I had started having contractions that afternoon about every 9-11 minutes apart for about 3 hours and I just thought it was caused by their insane activity inside my belly!

So, I call L&D and tell them what is going on and they tell me to come in and get checked out. I brought my bags with me (just in case) but I left them in the car because I figured they were just going to send me home after monitoring me a couple of hours. So they hook me up and sure enough I am having contractions! The doc comes and checks me and i'm only 1 cm dilated, but was 80% effaced, so that got him worried a bit.

They decide to start me on magnesium sulfate to try and stop the contractions. At minimum dose, they started coming ever 5-6 mins, so they up the dose. Still, the contractions were getting closer so they upped the dose to the maxium. All night long I was contracting at 2-3 mins apart at the maximum dose. At this point i'm checked again and i'm 2-3 cms and almost fully effaced. So, then they figure they aren't going to be able to stop the contractions. They decide to transfer me to another hospital about 15 miles away because the one I was at doesnt have a NICU and they wont deliver under 35 weeks. So, they get me on the ambulance and I get quite a few more contractions in the ambulance. By the time they get me set up in the room and check me again, I was at 4 cms.

So, it was decided then that I would be delivered right away. They set everything up within about 30 mins and I get wheeled into the OR. I get a spinal and things start rolling pretty quick. Next thing I know, out they come!

Soooo for the stats: Samantha and Emily were born by c-section on, July 5th, 2007 at 12:12 pm. They were born at 33 weeks, 5 days and were 4 lbs 6oz, 17 1/2 " (Samantha) and 3 lbs, 13 oz, 16 3/4" (Emily)!

I'm currently running back and forth from the NICU to spend time with them and pump my breasts like a mad woman! They are doing great though and only Samantha is on a bit of oxygen. Emily has been off oxygen and on room air since yesterday afternoon and is doing great. Now all they have to do is grow a bit and learn to do the suck/breath/swallow thing when on the nipple. Docs are saying that they should be good to go home in 2-3 weeks. So... here are some pictures... I look like crap, but keep in mind I had already been in labor for 15 hrs before they c-sectioned me!

Girl you look great for being in labor that long lol. Your babies are beautiful and congrats,I hope they get to come home soon until then enjoy every second of silence you get bc your having 2 babies come home with you hehehe.
