Quoting Jenn & Baby Kyra:“ Hmmm...I never thought that I could be losing my milk supply! We are going on a trip for 10 days this ... [snip!] ... her on whole milk before, during or after this trip? Did you BF? If so, how did you wean? Thanks for the tip on the lavender!”
Let's see.. I BF for a month (I know not nearly long enough...) My son had surgery at 5 weeks on his stomach and they wouldn't let me so they could keep up with his intake and I lost my supply... and I tried EVERYTHING... Whole milk is good to start asap because if she can't tolorate it you know before the trip, some LO can only have 2% because the fat content in whole is to difficult to take (usually colic-y babies have this issue). I weaned from formula to milk (in a similar way from bf to formula or milk) by starting with a bottle that was about 80% of the norm (in your case breastmilk) and 20% milk or formula. Then I just started moving the percentages every day untill the move was complete. Took me about 2-3 days. FAIR WARNING!!! Every child I have ever known will have a bm difference the first week or two as their little systems adjust to the change. That doesn't mean they are allergic. Also I'm sure it will be WAY less of a stress on you. That is why I suggest the switch prior to your trip. Wanna make sure you get that rest! Hope that helped mama! Keep me updated, I wanna know that you are doing well!
