umbilical cord question????

my daughter is only a week old and her umbilical cord is hanging bystring is that normal for it to fall off so soon????

every baby is different... but shes fine... Aleahs didnt fall off till like 4 weeks (and i about flipped then...lol but hers was bleeding a little) but shes fine... that is quick tho! lol

My daughter's took forever but as long as it looks ok I would think that its alright.

Yup my sons came off at 7 days

ive been soooo worried all day i dont want it to get infected i clean it twice a day with an alcohol pad

Oh to add I actually took my son to the Dr. for a weight check and while I was there I told his Pedi how his umbil cord was smelling really bad and I even cleaned it with alcohol pads to see if it helped and it didn't... She looked at it and cleaned it herself and said there was no sign of infection but the smell was a good indication that an infection was starting, so she snipped the little piece of skin/cord that was left..... So if it starts to smell really bad and is strong smelling then that is a sign of infection.
