overbearing grandparents. (vent/rant) kinda long...

posted 23rd Jul
Does anyone else have this problem? I am in a sticky situation. So, ever since my son was born my parents have been out of control telling me how to raise him. When he was a newborn they would come in the room everytime he cried and tell me what i "should" be doing. We got him off the paci at 8 months but they started giving it back to him and now hes a paci addict haha. The sleeping situation is terrible! My son ususally stays up ubtil 11-1 and sleeps with his grandma. We have tried to break him of this habit. His doctor has suggested many times to let him CIO for 5 or 10 mintues and check on him. I have told my parents this as well but they say its too hard for them emotionally. My sons grandmother constantly baby talks with him and they just babble to each other. In the past 3 momths his speech has not been improving and he only wants to baby talk with grandma now  We had to make an apt with a speech therapist. I have talked to them many times and my mom just ends up in tears and gets very angry with me. She even threw a fit like this at the doctors office. Theres so many more things they do but it would make this post way too long haha.  I would just move out but I have to pay her rent so I haven't been able to save up to leave. I am going nuts!!!! I feel so alone. Like no one else has this problem.

Its better to do it sooner than later too so things dont get more out of control.

I know how you feel. My mom always tries todo stuff her way. I always put my foot down. She spoils him so much and now he throws tantrums cause I dont give him his way like my mom does. I co-slept but before he hit a year old I moved him to his crib. The first night he only cried 10 minutes. The second night was 5 min. and now he doesnt cry at all when I put him in his crib and its been a month. You just have to do it your way whether she is gonna be upset or not.
