One Whole Day...

Binky free!

....but, I let him have his sippy cup in the crib with him at bed time, and I've never done that before   ...that's worse than the binky! What do I do? I don't want him to cry himself to sleep at night, but the binky needs to go!

Omg I am going through the same thing right now... I feel like such a mean mommy   It's been 2 days and 3 nights without it, and tonight was the worstttt.

Umm the binkie is better than the sippy. I hope for your sake he will at least take the binkie back if you aren't ready to let him CIO. My son got rid of his binkie at 18 months, we did CIO for one night and he's been good without it ever since

he did so well during his naps today, and last night we had no problem, but tonight he wouldn't go to sleep peacefully.   It breaks my heart to let him cry.

Yes, that is far worse then a pacifier.

Look up pictures of bottle rot or bottle mouth online, that should be enough to stop you from giving him a sippy of formula.

Why are you taking it away? He isn't even a year old.

And the formula is way, way worse for him than the binky. My son is 16 months old and has a binky to sleep at night. Most of the day he does great without it, naps included. Make it a bedtime thing, but NO sippy in the crib!!!

yeah, I'm not going to give him that again...I usually feed it to him in his high chair or his little rocker in the living room and then put him to bed after he is done. I don't let him drink laying down usually. I have never let him fall asleep with a bottle or sippy, and I took this one away from him as soon as he was asleep.

My son is 11 months old and I still give him the binky to go to bed

I give him a stuffed animal that he hugs but he eats the fur off of it, so that's why I continue with the binky. He needs both

Why don't you try giving your son a stuffed animal to have as a "security" item? Maybe that can replace the sippy cup.... They usually need something at this age.... it's later on they can go to bed on their own....

I give you props for having your son slowly try without them!

Because he's been waking up with really red, irritated patches on his cheeks from it.

-I know that the sippy is bad, I'm not going to do that again...I was hoping for advice on other ways to soothe him before bed, besides the binky.

he has a really soft blankie that he snuggles everynight, of course I'm letting him keep that. I think that's what made it okay at first, but tonight was completely different. he wouldn't even lie down...he just kept sitting up everytime I tried to lay him down with his blankie, even though I know he was super tired.

Yeah I don't get it, sometimes she will just grumble for a few mins and fall asleep, and last night she fell asleep right away. But tonight she just kept crying, I didn't leave her side though but nothing seemed to soothe her, it broke my heart too.
If she doesn't get better in a couple of days I'm just going to give it back to her, I'm getting a lot of crap about it because she's only 5 months old but i'm doing it now because she will just get more attatched as she gets older.. but who knows.

Every day is a new adventure! Sometimes what worked yesterday won't work today, and what hasn't worked before suddenly works now! That's why I know to try try again....

He sounds like he was overtired, that's all.... But had a big boy day that should go in the baby book lol
