Today is the first day...

that I have felt like crying over something silly, but I held back.

I found out I was pregnant back on July 2nd, and I had to wait to get my blood work done on Tuesday, the 7th because of the holiday. I have been trying to get my OB intake appointment scheduled for almost a whole week, but nobody is answering the phone or calling me back.

Because my husband is Army we have to go through their stupid little protocols which is really frustrating. I looked at the pictures of the birthing rooms, and my heart sunk. I am glad that my medical care is free, but I just feel like I'm being neglected.

Since this is my first baby, and I know I have a good chance of being put into the high risk category I just want to be able to get my first appointment done to make sure everything is ok, but I can't do anything without the OB intake getting done first.

I don't know what to do if there is anything I can do anyway. I called the regular scheduling nurse and she was a bit rude, and told me that they probably have a high load of pregnancies. Then she transferred me even though I told her that nobody was picking up and nobody had called me within the 48 hours.

I'm trying to stay unstressed since it isn't good for the baby, but I'm getting really disheartened. Has anyone had any experience with shitty military care?

I'm very lucky I live on a military post that has no OB's. I am able to go to any doctor I want as long as they are in the Tricare network.

My husband is also a medic... and works at the health clinic. So when I have had to go there I get in pretty quick.

Sorry about your trouble.. the military can be a big pain sometimes

Oh yes... Naval Hospitals are all on my shit list!

I had PID & couldn't see an OBGYN to get a follow up for 2 months...

Tricare & the Military health care system can suck my non-existent cock!!

Also, when I was being transported by ambulance to & from hospitals for scans & stuff (the don't have certain machines at Naval Hospitals, so I had to go to a local civillian hospital) anyways... while being transported, they DROPPED ME when taking me out of the ambulance because the stretcher was broken, and they KNEW it was broken too... they couldn't even get it back INTO the ambulance either.. such failures.. (the stretcher collapsable part was broken)

I've written many letter to Tricare about NAS Jax's Hospital and Naval Hospital Beaufort... and the hospitals are always DIRTY! *gag*

Wow how are there no OB's on your base? That is insane lol. Though you are right it makes you lucky. I am going to see if they will give me a referral for the Cape Fear Valley hospital since WAMC sucks.

My husband is a medic, but he's on block leave at the moment so I have no connections at the moment not that I would anyway since he's only a PFC. At times like this I want to call my uncle who is a Lt. Colonel and see if he can do anything, but I'm not the type to do that.

Oh wow that is terrible. You should have been able to sue for negligence.

The Naval base in my city doesnt have a hospital so I get to see a civilian dr also. Did you go to your PCM and get a referral sent into tricare???

Well the way they do it here, you have to call the OB intake line at your clinic then wait for them to call you back. They FINALLY called yesterday, and they said I left the wrong number 4 times. I mean seriously? So they said I was "lucky" that they tried my husband's number since it was listed on my file.

So my OB intake is Tuesday the 21st, but I won't be seeing a doctor of course because they just do the family history then send me over to the little referral ladies on the other side of the clinic so I can get my assigned doctor.

So at least some progress is being made, but I hope they schedule my first prenatal before my husband leaves so I can at least give him a copy of the first ultrasound picture to carry with him.

Yeah I've learned rather quickly that military healthcare sucks balls. I just hope I get a good OB. I'm glad I can request a new one if the one I'm given is crappy, but since I'm new to all this I just want to have as little stress as possible.
