Terrible PP headaches & BF

posted 4th Jul
I've had horrible headaches ever since I had my baby 2 weeks ago, all my painkillers the hospital gave me are gone...does anyone know if it is safe to take Tylenol while breastfeeding? I can't take the pain anymore...it hurts in my head and my eyes. It's constant! I need relief

has it really been every day since she was born? Did you have a spinal done? I had major headaches everyday after my kids were born and it was from the spinal, they messed up and so I was missing some spinal fluid which caused my brain to sag. Sounds soooo weird I KNOW! But thats what they called it in the hospital! They had to take blood out of my arm and inject it into my spine, fixed the headache within an hour!

Did you get an epidural? I had a friend who got one and had to go back because the fluid wasn't evening out or something and was putting pressure in her head and had to go back to the hospital

Yes it has been everyday, I thought maybe it was hormones or something. I never thought about the epidural, but yes I did have one. That's really scary. I better call my doctor on Monday and see whats going on. Thanks for the warning!!

ya definitely! They will just draw blood from your arm and inject it in your spine, it doesnt hurt at all and it fixed it SO fast!

How did they know it was that, and not just regular old headaches? Is there a way for them to diagnois it?

They really didn't know if it was that or not until they injected it, and it worked! They said I could wait it out and it would go away after a few weeks!!! OR I could try the blood patch and it will work if thats what it is.
My mom got it after she had me, but back then they just had to wait it out and it was around 2 weeks until it started going away.

It would be worth it to try! It's just awful and it's even worse when I'm breastfeeding because I have my head down staring at her, and it makes it worse! But I can't take my eyes off of her! Thanks for the help, can't wait to try it!

it sounds a lot like mine. I could hardly stand or sit, as long as I was laying down it would be ok. I would definitely call about it. Mention something to them about brain sag, and you may want a blood patch!

That happened to me too. The LC in the hospital told me that it was the hormones that are being released while you are breastfeeding... Like, the 'prolactin' or something... mine went away after about a month.
