Every hospital I have heard of, yes. They have a lactation consultant or one of the nurses who will help you out at first, to make sure baby is latching properly and to address any questions you have. You can call and ask the hospital too just to make sure.

Honestly, it's alot harder than it looks at first. They have a lac. consultant who comes in and the nurses can also help you. I learned a lot from them!

You should check with your hospital when they offer classes. I know mine had saturday classes where you go for a few hours and they not only covered breastfeeding but labor and a few other topics..helped alot for me. Also, it is a good idea to at least get a hospital tour so they can explain security, etc to you and what to do when you check in and what doors to use, blah blah lol

When you first get settled into your room, tell them that you plan on ONLY breastfeeding and you want to see their lactation consultant as soon as she can make it to you after the birth.
Most of the nurses will also be able to help you, just voice your concern, they are used to it!

yeah im deffinetly going to do the hospital tour, but the classes that they offer at the hospital im going to be giving birth at are 250$  and with me and my boyfriend working full time we make money but we use it to pay our bills and things for the baby when she comes, i dont want to sound like a bad parent if i dont go to the classes its just with the money and time restriction its really hard. And on top of that i dont want to feel uncomfortable for being young i mean ill be 19 in a couple of weeks but i dont want to feel out of place or like everyones stareing at me

yeah i hope i get the chance to tell them, i feel like the day i go into labor and go to the hospital everythings going to go so fast and my head will be spinning lol. Ive been telling everyone i have this fear that they will just give her formula without asking me and they say that they cant do that, but im still paranoid. lol. i just really want to do the breast feeding even though i know its hard, my grandmother died of crohns disease and my older sister has it too and they say breastfeeding can help prevent it

If you are worried, then make a Birth Plan!! They can be life savers when you are panicking and everything is going wild!!
You can have one in your purse, give the Dr's office one to have on file, one in your hospital bag to give the nurse's, another to put on the table next to you in case the next nurse hasn't looked into your file yet, and another for your DH to have just in case.
Here's a really good one: http://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/free_birth_plan/free_birth_plan.php

Even if you can't print them out, then just write down what is important to you and hand that out.

They'll show you and call in a lactation consultant if you need one. If there is no LC, at least one nurse would probably be trained in teaching new mothers to breastfeed.

The hospital I had my first 2 daughters at had trained nurses but no LC.

I know that at the hospital I'm delivering, they bring in a lactation consultant before you leave to make sure you're doing it right and a nurse helps you get a hang of it all. You should check out your hospitals website and talk to your OB to get the information you want on the hospital. Because if one in your area doesn't offer it, maybe another one does.
