I put my daughter up for adoption a few years ago. The people I found were friends of a friend of a friend of a friend. We started the whole thing from scratch, and the first step was finding an adoption agency. There is a pretty big legal process involved, and this is going to be the most important resource.

You can do a private adoption through a lawyer, but you will need to start your home study NOW. They can take a few months to finish. I think legal fees normally run about 10k. Don't quote me on that as they vary, but my friends who have done open private adoptions tell me that is about the going rate.

I talked to my friend like 2 days ago, she still hasn't started!! BUT she told me that if she did she would still be willing to have a baby for us! I love her!

Im currently pregnant and am putting my baby up for adoption. You need to get an adoption lawyer, this lawyer should provide your friend with a lawyer. In my case, it's an open adoption where the baby will know he's adopted and my family and I have visitation. Through the lawyers, you'll go over things such as expenses, type of adoption, and all of the normal paperwork and background checks =]

Nope, and still hasn't started. BUT she's not sure when she will, she had 2 period last month....

I am in the process of a domestic adoption right now and I have to tell you - compared to what wethought - it isEASY legally. It is also quite affordable. You may have to get a homestudy done. State laws vary. Every adoption situation is so unique. You need to really talk things through with this friend of yours and set some guidelines for future contact. I think in the end you both will know in your hearts what is right. Good luck to you!
