Quoting Makayla's incubator ϖ:“ see, we recieved a really pretty bassinet to keep in our room for a little while until we make the transition ... [snip!] ... the pack n play downstairs, that way we aren't disassembling things whenever we want to bring things upstairs or downstairs....”

I say if you already have a bassinet, then I'd skip the more expensive pack n play. Buy just a regular/cheaper play pen for later.

I bought this expensive changing table for my son's nursery because I just had to have it, and I never use it. I change him from his crib, on the floor, on my bed.

I would wait on the jumper-roo. My son LOVED his, so it is worth getting, but he couldn't use his until he was about four months old. I would get a playmat, a swing, and a bouncy chair for now. Those will all be used right away. I would also get a pack and play because my son slept in his all the time and we just kept it in the family room. I got the kind with a bassenet and changing station. I loved the bassenet, but would pass on the changing table if I had the chance again. It was very small, so he outgrew it quickly and when they are that little you can change them absolutely anywhere.

Quoting Due with #2 in 01-2010:“ We are doing the opposite. I am keeping the packnplay upstairs and the mini bassinet downstairs. I have to go get one still.”

I would love the keep the pack n play upstairs but we would have next to NO room in our room with that in there, so we're kinda forced to do it the opposite way.

We're looking at buying bigger items first, especially because I still have another baby shower next month so we figured anything else we need like, onesies, diapers, lotion etc etc. we'll buy then with gift cards and what not. But as of right now her nursery is done, stroller and carseat are done and we have approx. $500 to spend on larger items....ie: bouncer, pack n' play, play mat, swing ya know....

argggh lol, its so overwhelming sometimes, especially since its my first I'm so nervous I'm not going to have what she needs...

thats what i would do...all i use is the bumbo to feed bryson in now...when hes to big when have one of those high chairs to use...ill prob just put it on the floor and continue feeding him like i do in his bumbo

yea, the dresser we bought we just bought one of those changing mats to put on top of it- figured she'd get more use of out a regular dresser than a changing table.

I think I'm a little confused though..I've seen the pack n' plays that have the changing table but the bassinet? I'm sure I've seen it I just want to make sure I"m looking at the right ones....
I want one that the bottoms goes up higher than just the bottom...? would that be the bassinet portion?

I have to move my dresser in order to have enough room for the packnplay upstairs, but by the time the baby will outgrow the "mini" bassinet, I will feel more comfortable with he/she sleeping upstairs without me next to him/her the whole time and just using the monitor.

They outgrow the bassinets REALLY fast. The packnplay ones last a lot longer.

Quoting Jacob Is My Life!:“ You heard right. They are definitely lifesavers! I didn't buy a highchair. I bought a booster. Can ... [snip!] ... and sit on the floor in front of him. Saves space & cheaper. I also waited to buy it until he was ready to use it.”

btw your son is absolutely adorable!!! You guys are making me so excited to meet our little girl!

Yes, that is the bassinet portion, I am sure 99.9% of them come with it. I have never seen one that didnt.

My father-in-law bought me something that I used a bunch and it grew with him.

The high chair for feeding. It had three settings on it for the seat, so it would lay back far enough for when he was really little (fed him rice cereal at 8 weeks, doc orders), and then when he could hold his head up, I could move it to the 2nd station...and obviously when he got bigger (like 6 months +), put it on the final setting and he was sitting straight up. The tray had a smaller one that fit in it that had little cubbies for bottle/juice and such... and the cover on the chair was washable and wipe-able so it didn't soak up any messy stuff that happened.

I lost that after so many moves and my son growing out of the high chair at 2 (he's almost 5 now)....so I have to go and get a lot of my baby stuff again

If you have the money now, get what you need to get for the next few months, things that'll grow with her when she gets bigger.

You can wait on the jumper. But we used our pack n play everyday for atleast a year if not more. I would also get a swing and bouncer.

I use the pack n play for her to sleep in and use the changing thing for every changing!! Very useful for me!!

Quoting [Bryson's Mommy]:“ we never used the changing thing on the pack n play but the pack n play is a must IMO. we kept brysons ... [snip!] ... swing but IMO if u have a swing set up in ur living room or something theres really no need for a little bouncer seat thing....”

We never used the changing thing either. It's sitting in our storage room. Haha.
It just gets in the way.
As far as the swing/bouncer seat.. I really think it depends on the baby. People say time and time again how their swing is their lifesaver. Gavin hated his swing at first. I mean.. he'll cry and scream in it or just make a really angry face.
His bouncer, on the other hand, was a lifesaver for us.
