Contractions?

posted 4th Jul
Okay, okay, I know it's hard for you guys to be able to tell me for sure, but I was just wondering how you all knew you were having contractions?

I just had the most intense, sharp pain go throughout like my entire stomach, but I'm not sure if it was the real thing. I've had BH contractions several times, but they never felt anything like what I just felt.

Anybody out there think they might know? Or could you tell me exactly what yours felt like?

I had really gnarly BH, so that could be that, but IDK.

Walk around, drink some water, see if they persist or become more intense.

Umm its only a real contraction if it is an even amount of time apart, and/or it is getting worse.

You know, if they get more frequent or more intense. Even if it was a contraction, one doesnt mean anything. You just have to wait it out to know

I know you have more than one, I was just wondering if that was like the first of many. It was pretty intense. You're right, I guess I'll know in a bit...

your contractions arent always going to be an even amount of time between. there just has to be some kind of consistency. when i was in labor my contractions were never perfectly spaced. when i first started timing them they were anywhere from 5 to 11 minutes apart.

when the contractions, or what you think may be contractions, come walk around. if it gets worse then you are probably in labor. thats how i knew for sure when it first started.

Thank you, mama.
I haven't felt anything in about 40 minutes, so I'm not sure yet...

if you havent felt anything in that long it was probably just one of the many aches and pains you are going to feel being this late in your pregnancy. your time will come mama, even though it probably feels like it never will! good luck!!

I had thought I was in labor so many times. I was worried I was never going to know when I was actually in labor. I had contractions for two weeks straight that were 5 - 10 minutes apart. Talk about annoying.I had really bad back pain start on June 10th at night time while I was "trying to sleep". I didn't sleep at all that night. The next day I called my doctor and they told me to go to the hospital because I could have been having back labor. I got at the hospital at 10 AM on the 11th and stayed there and was monitored until 4 PM the same day. They sent me home and said that "I could be in early labor but they didn't know. They told me to come back when my water broke."
I went to Steak N' Shake and had supper because I was starving and hadn't had anything all day. By the way I was still having terrible constant back pain and contractions that were consistently 7 minutes apart. I got home and tried to relax and I started getting even worse back pain than I was already having and even stronger contractions that became 3 minutes apart and lasting about 1 minute each. As soon as I was having these pains, I didn't think I was in labor because it was the worst pain I had ever been in. It felt like someone was taking a knife and slicing my stomach over and over. Then it would go away and come back. I kept getting up and trying to go poop but then I never had to go. Good thing my mom was there because she MADE me go to the hospital. I would have never went because I never though I was in labor. I was in tears and thought I just had a bad stomach ache. STUPID ME!! Haha. I went back to the hospital 2 hours after they sent me home and was in Active Labor. I was already 4 cm dialated. They gave me some pain medicene and I had to wait to get my epidural until I had a bag of fluids in me. That was the longest 10 minutes of my life. When I finally got my epidural I was 5 cm already. I got at the hospital at 6 PM on the 11th of June and Started pushing at 11:45 PM the same night. I had my baby girl after 3 and half hours of pushing. 3:14 AM on June 12th 2009.
It was the greatest thing I have ever done and I can't wait to have another. It hurt a lot before I got my epidural but after that it was a sintch. Pushing was the best part.

Just make sure whenever you start having constitent contractions that feel like someone is cutting your lower stomach over and over GO TO THE HOSPITAL. Also if you have constant back pain go to the hospital because you could be having back labor like I did. Labor and Delivery was nothing that I thought it was going to be like. I thought it was going to be the most terrible thing ever and I LOVED IT. It sounds crazy but it's true!! I wish it would have lasted longer than it actually did. haha

Good luck to you and sorry for such a long story but if you need anything just let me know and I would be glad to help you out as much as I could!!
