baking/cooking quick question

posted 4th Jul
I am going to a cookout tonight! And was thinking of making a cake. I have a cream cheese icing out of the container, if i was to mix that with whipped cream to make it lighter and fluffier. Do you think that would taste okay? I am going to put it on a strawberry cake and then ice it and then put strawberry halves and berries in the shape of a flag. Does that sound okay? Would it be okay to add whipped cream to the icing or just leave it as is?

It sounds like it would taste yummy, i would just be afraid that the premade icing would be too heavy with the whipped cream, why not just use the whipped cream for the frosting? that would be like a strawberry shortcake type thing and be super yummy!

Add it or just mix a tiny bit to see how it tastes! I bet it will be good though.

I think it will be fine. It will be pretty loose but you're not making a two layer cake or anything like that so you should still be good.

It shouldn't be too heavy. I make something similar to that. It's a fruit pizza with a sugarcookie crust and the topping I make is made out of cream cheese, powdered sugar and I fold in cool whip or whipped cream.

It's really frickin' easy. I learned it in my HS culinary class

You buy the pillsbury sugar cookie dough, press it into a 9x13 cookie sheet and bake.
Let a pack of creamcheese sit til room temp, mix with 2c. powdered sugar (or a little more if you have a raging sweet tooth). - Then fold in one regular tub of coolwhip (or whip up 1c. heavy cream - but the coolwhip wil keep better).

Spread the cream topping over cooled crust, then top with fresh or macerated fruit. Voila!

Strawberries and blueberries are good for the fourth but I love banana and pineapple and mandarin oranges as well. You can put just about any fruit on there depending on your tastes.

It's worth a shot!
Sometimes I make my dough from scratch too but the first time I tried it homemade, my dough kind of bubbled over the edges of the pan so maybe just give yourself some room for spreading.
You also want the cookie to be chewy so just watch it and maybe even take it out a little bit before you regularly would to make sure the crust isn't too crispy.
