that happened with my poodle.... thought she was getting bigger because of the growing puppies but the whole time her uterus was filling up with puss... she needed to get a hystorectomy.. that was an expensive unsuccessul breeding attempt!!

I recently got a new bitch to add to my home (they are my fur babies of course first and foremost) and the breeder was taken aback when I asked if there was any knowledge of phantom pregnancies in her past girls, the mama especially... she had never gotten that question before lol. I was paying almost $1000 for a great working stock (which is pretty low) so I needed to make sure it was good lol

He has 2 testicles, he's just cryptorchid.....meaning one (or in some cases both)is undescended. He can still produce sperm from both testicles.
Just a side note.....spay/neuter saves lives ladies!
