Performance Enhancing Drugs
posted 4th Jul
First, I am a HUGE LA Dodgers fan. Since the late 70s I have been into baseball and loving the True Blue. But this whole Manny Ramirez50 game ban for performance enhancing drugs confuses me.
First, it wasn't a true performance enhancing drug - rather a "masking" drug, female fertiltiy drug - which he was caught for. So did it work and mask the actual performance enhancing drug? My thought - if he was using a drug to increase female fertility 1 wouldn't his teammates notice (locker room talk), and 2 would that REALLY help?
Second, he stated it was actually an additive of a drug that he was prescribed from his personal physician during the off season. Makes me wonder what additives are in the prescriptions that my kids and I have been prescribed (especially now that my daughter is on a topical steroid).
And the length of the ban. From here on out he'll have an astrik by his name in the history book, and the team itself may have their season in question (there is talk out here that some of the teams are going to protest if the Dodgers make it into the playoffs). Was 50 games enough?
I am bringing this up because earlier was his return to major league baseball. He walked and then got out 2 or 3 other times. Either way the Dodgers won and the San Diego media is making a big stink over the whole issue.
If you aren't a sports-geek like me, you can still give your 2c. I welcome sports-widows, sports-geeks, and everyone in between. Just please no drama.

IMO I would think that it was for masking, because why would a doctor give him something to cause shrinkage, the whole astrick thing is lame because other people got in trouble for steriods and don't, but they should get permission to see his medical recods to see if it is true about the additive, it does make me wonder whats in my kids meds though, anywho it's not rally a ateriod though so I don't see how they can do that to him without further investigation
