packing for the hospital

posted 4th Jul
I'm packing my bag for the hospital and I feel like I am packing too much! Especially if you read all the lists you can find if you google what to pack! Can you really overdo it? Also, doesn't the hospital provide gowns? This is dumb, but I don't really wear pajamas and would rather just wear what they give me... (I will only be spending one night.) When you arrive at the hospital, do they automatically set you up with their gown and stuff or do you wear your own stuff and then change when it's closer to delivery? I don't mean to sound lame, it's just my first time. It just seems like if you have to wait until contractions are 4 to 5 minutes apart like I was told, there wouldn't be much time to worry about walking around during labor and stuff at the hospital and worrying about what you are wearing...At any rate, I've got some t-shirts, a long tank, a shirt that unbuttons down the front, a comfy skirt, some soft comfy capri style pants (that I guess I could sleep in), jeans (to wear home), two pairs of socks, a couple nursing bras, panties, slippers, and toiletries. I see some lists recommend bringing extra pillows. Is that really necessary? Wouldn't the hospital provide those if you asked for extra ones? Of course, I have stuff for the baby to wear and I'm sure my husband will need a change of clothes and a few toiletries. Did you pack snacks? Sorry for so many questions!

the hospitals usually gives u a gown to change into infact i wore hospital gowns until i left. i do strongly advise packing some premie clothes for your LO just incase. my dr told me mine was gonna be a big baby turned out she was super tiny so my SO had to go get something smaller for her to wear home, he also had to go get some grannie panties lol  everyone told me to bring some and I was like hell no i dont even own any and i wont wanna wear those. because of everything going on down there plus the giant pads you have to wear after you actually need them. i did pack snacks  for my SO because they were feeding me, not him. also change for the vending machine for him and a couple extra bucks just incase he didnt have any cash when dinner time came around. good luck and congrats!!

as soon as I got there they put me in the hispital gown thing.
but all I brought was clothes but I stayed in the hospital gown like the hole time because they always have to check you like every hour But If you didnt want to wear that, a night gown that you can just pull up would be good.
bring your own shampoo and conditioner! theres sucks.
I really didnt need anything, I was there for five days and didnt wear clothes till the day I left. but I would bring your pillows they give you as many asyou need but they suck. and I wanted mine the whole time!

why would you watch a movie while pushing? I was concentrating fully on pushing hard and getting the baby out, no time for a movie probably why I pushed her out so well and so fast.
