if hes a reservist he won't have to move, he'll drive monthly to the duty sight.

But I don't know how your agreement is but my step kid's mother needed his permission to leave the state.

If he goes in it will be AD... so if her dad says no we can't go?

Before anything, you should check to see if he's even eligible to go back. With a medical discharge, it's real iffy. The MEPS doctors, at least around here, will try to disqualify you. The recruiters try to get you in, but it's those doctors that'll try to screw you. It all boils down to his reenlistment code.
In my experience, reserves are easier to get in, HOWEVER, you going with him, base housing, and all that.. it doesn't really happen, unless you get longterm orders, which doesn't seem common.
The benefits really lack compared to AD.

But again, you should find out if he can even go back first and foremost.

It really depends on your agreement most have a "cannot leave the country without consent" but some have the state.

Look over your agreement and talk with your ex.

lol long term orders rarely exist, unless its a special duty assignment or senior enlisted e-8 e-9s

But I agree, before worrying about the details see if he can ever join!

Understandable. I was talking about my fun situation to you too.
It's not only childcare.. it's everything. Ha.

True. But honestly.. it's sooooooooooo not worth it. I asked him the approx timeline from the moment I submit my paperwork to the moment I get the uniform and it's a long time. I don't have that much time left in the reserves, by the time I get results back and everything.. I'm almost out. I rather just get out and by that time, my husband will be AD.. so I don't need tricare or anything like that.

Go for it. I'll do the same.
No kidding, though. Sneaky, sneaky.
I'm done, though. Who would've thought I'd talk to someone on here that knew exactly how it all works, ya know?

Trust me, I wish I stayed in. I was, like, my command's golden child. I could do no wrong. And if I stayed in, we wouldn't be in the bind that we're in now (money and such).
But I know if I stayed in.. I'd complain just as much.

There's no winning with me!
