Depressed (vent...kinda)

posted 3rd Jul
Im fucking so upset.

I know this MAY sound dumb.
But ive been crying literally ALL day.

My momma-cat died last night (we didnt find her until this afternoon, dead in our living room).
And she left 3, baby kittens (about 2 weeks old) behind.
Ive been trying to bottle feed them ALL day, every 2 hours, and they just arent having it.
PLUS they were pre-mature births.

I have no idea if these kittens are going to make it or not.
My fiance's brother brought over HIS momma cat..who gave birth the night AFTER my cat.
Ive been trying to get HER to feed my kittens, but she just wont take them in as her own.

Anyone have any tips to keep these kittens alive?
I'll fucking freak-out if they die, too.

*sigh*
I miss my kitty.

Its depressing, isnt it?

Even my fiance cried....He was BAWLING until he went to work at 5.
That was really HIS cat, but I favored it.

Its so sad.
I love that cat.

We bottle fed 6 baby kitties when our Mama cat died. Just stick with it. Its hard, i know, especially since they use their claws all the time. Call a local vet and see if there is anything more you can do.

How are you trying to feed them and what are you using?

Try using a VERY small bottle (they have them at the pet store) or if you don't have one and you have a syringe, use that. DON'T feed them while they are on their backs because they can aspirate it and die. They have something called KMR at walmart etc that is special made for kittens. You can't use just regular milk. If you need any help at all, PM me or IM me rhoda856 on aim. I have bottle fed a litter of 9 puppies and a litter of 9 hamsters.

I went to the animal hospital today, and picked up some syringes.
& me and fiance went to wal-mart and got Milk Replacer (for kittens), and a small bottle just for nursing newborn animals.

Does anyone know HOW much they should be eating, every 2 hours?

I have 1ml syringes....I gave all three of them 1 syringe..and as much of the bottle as they would take.
They wont suck off the bottle, though. I have to POUR it down thier mouths.

I have a cat who I bottlefed. It is harder than having a baby in my opinion but rewarding.
Feed them every two hours at first, you can slowly start weening them each week take off an hour. I literally woke my kitten up to feedbecause I was so scared she would die. I kept her on a heating pad (very important if they are inside), do not lay them directly on the pad put a towel or something on top. Also, momma cats pee and poop their babies, just at least every hour or every two hours rub a tissue on there privates front and back it will stimulate them to go to the bathroom. Eventually they will start using the litter box, I was so happy when my baby learned! She was around 4-5weeks old before I had her doing her own thing. I also fed her out of a surringe and got antibiotics from the doctor because if they eat to fast they can get bubbles come out of their nose and get sick. Good Luck, you can do it.

Just give them as much they want. That's what I did. Here's a site that might help you

This made me tear up a little bit. Have you tried putting them in sheets/blankets (put them in the dryer a little bit) and feed them?

I'm really no help. Sorry.

Hopefully, she will.

I posted in your other thread on this. The mamas have given you excellenadvice, exactly what I was told to do for my boys.Definately don't forget to help them eliminate. Also it will help if you take a tissue and kind of "clean" them ,like a mama cat would lick them. This is how they will learn to wash themselves, since their birth-mama can't teach them.

My husband had a cat for 14 years that was in the same situation as those kittens. His name was Ezra, and his momma passed away in the bathroom right after giving birth, so my husband nursed them all to adulthood, bottle fed them and everything, and all of them survived. He passed away in our arms one morning, he will be gone a whole year on the 8th...we miss him so much...But my husband always says he helped him come into the world, and he was there for him when he left it....

You just have to make sure that they are fed every couple hours, kept at just the right temperature- not too hot but not too cold either, warm blankets are a must, but be sure to keep an eye on the kittens so they dont get tangled up in the blankets and suffocate. And also, be sure to clean them up, since the momma cat cannot clean them, you need to. They will learn how to take care of themselves eventually, and when they get old enough, in a couple months, you may be able to get an older kitty to show them how things are done- thats what I did when my cat Grizabella came here. She didnt know a whole lot, her momma wasnt around much, so she learned most things from our kitty Ezra.

And with the other momma cat you need to be careful- she is only an animal and may get defensive and hurt the other litter of kittens- I have seen it happen. Just be careful and watch her VERY closely. If she acts agitated, get her away fast- because Momma cats are known to be very temperamental & territorial when it comes to other kitties. So just be VERY careful with another cat around those kittens.

And if they do pass away, you cannot help it, But I dont think they will- my hubbys cats survived when he took them in right after birth, and they all lived long, healthy, happy lives. And I have had 20 litters of kittens or so during my lifetime, so I hope I helped... Good luck!!!
