posted 3rd Jul
I was never baptized when I was younger, and am not a very religious person..however my SO is Filipino & is Catholic, and his side of the family is very religious...

So my question is in order for your child to be baptized fo both parent have to be Catholic?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know specifically if both parents need to be baptized Catholic for the baby to be, but I do know that Catholics tend to be alot more strict with the way they do things ~ so it wouldn't suprise me. I hope you are able to find out!

You must have at least one parent catholic. I am catholic and had my son baptised but my SO is not. It was ok for us to do it cause one of us is at least catholic.

did your SO have to take classes..when I googled it, something came up about the classes to take to insure the child is brought up catholically or something like that.

Only one parent has to be Catholic in order for the child to be Baptized, but both Godparents have to be Catholic. That's what we were told by the Priest when we had Kevin Baptized. I wasn't Catholic but Steve was(is).
