Eczema

posted 3rd Jul
Kevin has eczema on the back of his legs, inside his elbows, and the back of his neck. The doctor told us to use Eucerin on it a month ago, but it's not helping with the itch. We don't know what to do to keep it from itching soo bad. He has itched it raw! We keep him in pants and long sleeves but he takes them off at night. Does anyone know what would be okay to use for the next couple days? He is just soo miserable!! I am calling the doctor's office on Monday to set up an appointment for them to see him again.

Has your ped told you to note the times he breaks out with it?
like if it's something he's eating or something he's wearing?
My daughter is now getting over a bad case of it..she gets it on her neck and her elbow creases too.
Sigh
Right now I've been monitoring her because I think it's everytime she has cow's milk.
Dunno what to use on her skin though. Hav eyou tried Aveeno's products?

I just read tonight about how Cow's milk could trigger the rash, and same for certain foods. We plan on keeping a diary of what he eats and etc. He has had a continuous breakout for a month now it's awful.

yup that's what my ped had us doing..noting everything she eats and when the rashes occur. And so far, it's mainly when she drinks/eats products with cow's milk
I hope you can find out too..Because seeing them grow up with skin like that, will be torture for them!

Yeah, I don't want Kevin to have skin like my sister who carries a thing of Cetiphil in her purse and has dry scaly patches everywhere. Ick

yea! i had remembered going to school with a girl who's skin was really bad.. I only remembered that the other day. Whn I did I was heck no I don't want her to go through that. I remember everyone being afraid to touch the girl's skin.

Another thing my ped told us to do (all to eliminate ways of flare-ups), don;t use products with perfumes..like soaps, and vaseline, detergents, etc. Use the perfume-free ones

Try getting this stuff called Spectro. They sell it in the pharmacy dept at wal mart and they have it specially made for kids. They have a body cleanser, and a lotion. They don't smell good at all, but they work sooo amazingly well.

cortisone cream mixed with lotion is what my Doctor told me to use on my daughter, I put it on her every night after her bath and it cleared it up right away. Cortisone is used for Eczema, Bug bites and a lot of other things but I can't think of them. But it cleared my daughters eczema up within 4 days.

We used Aveeno baby bath stuff..although now I use all suave clear and free since he's older. If I catch it early enough I'll put the Eucerin on him, but now he's got a break out of it, but our Pedi gave us a prescription ointment for breakouts when he was first diagnosed with it and it clears it up right away. Maybe you could ask your's about it.

Both me and my son have eczema and we both use Hydrocortizone. Our pedi has us start using it on our son when he was 5 months old (first flair up... so bad it looked like he had been stung and was swelling up all over his body) We still use it on him when we see the start signs of an outbreak. It helps calm the skin and reduce the itching.
