The hydrocortizone is a OTC product or prescrip?

We have a prescription for some that is above the strength that can be bought at the stores, but thats only when it is really bad. Otherwise we use over the counter. Its the 1% kind.

We thought my son might have eczema, he doesn't but he does have a tendency to get very dry. There's this cream that Mustella makes thats for dry-eczema prone skin and it works wonders. I slather it on him at night and after baths and it can seriously turn a dry patch around by morning. I've never found anything else like it. I know you can get it at Babies R Us and Nordstroms.

Thanks ladies for all the help. Steve and I went to the store and bought a different kind of lotion and some hydro cortisone cream as well. I hope it gets better! The back of his knees are raw from his scratching.

Did the cortosozne help? I used it when my daughter was younger but we took her off and the doctor put her on steriod cream when we switched doctors. I hate that stuff though and its not good for her so I cant use it very often. I was wondering if it helped with the itching..
My daughter itches constantly and I feel so bad not to mention its making it worse! Let me know how it works

oh my god.... my son is ging thru this same thing right now but it's on his stomach..it has spread alot more in the last couple of days and im so confused as to what to use and what caused it. His pedi sucks and he's always like "oh, its just eczema, itll go away" but i hate to see him scratching his little tummy in his sleep.

Anyways, I just wanted to thank you ladies because i wrote down almost all of the names of cremes and ointments mentioned and im gonna hit up the drug store so that i could try some of this stuff on him tonight!!!

Also, that link (trinimama) was a great help!!!!

Kevin's eczema is getting better, thank goodness! We put anti-bacterial cream on the raw parts for now because we don't want them infected. It has helped with the itch for some reason. We used the cortisone cream for naps and sleeping, and he actually slept through the night and took a LONG nap! It's amazing! We see the doctor on Monday for his 18 month check-up so they told us to wait till then to see if he needs something stronger. I hope he doesn't!!

Thanks again ladies for all the great advice! It's made a huge difference! Kevin is sooo much happier now!
