the girl I knew, her baby tested positive too. she didnt have the baby taken away, it was a small trace, and she had DHS visits for a few months.

If they have ANY reason to, then they do. They also sometimes test your urine while you are pregnant for drugs. I saw on my urinalysis form that they did a drug panel on me. I asked why and they said it was standard.
My friend didn't smoke pot after the first trimester, but when her baby was born he had a tremor, so they tested him for drugs, including marijuana, and she was terrified that it would come back positive. Thank goodness it didn't, because you don't want to be "known" to social services for doing drugs. That's a whole can of worms that nobody needs. Well, unless they are doing drugs while pregnant, maybe they do. I'd hate to see someone lose their child for a little pot though, kwim?

That's sad that they feel they need to do that...
Personally, I think it's one of those things that probably won't hurt 90% of the time, but if you can't give it up for 9 months, you should probably be thinking about quitting anyway.

Here In Iowa, its mandatory to test the first poop for drugs,

Yeah but I know a girl that did crack the majority of her pregnancy she is lucky she ended up living with us and we got her away from it long enough for her baby to be ok......but on the other hand the baby might have been better off cuz all her kids got taken away about 4 months after her birth.
