Saying they need parenting classes is implying that they are bad parents. Just because it is something you personally wouldn't do doesn't mean that they need help.

tomato-tamahto, saying someone needs parenting classes is still insulting and basically insinuating they are bad parents. Who do you think gets parenting classes? Not the mother of the year. Oh well, I was able to watch beavis and butthead, ren and stimpy, and all that crap when I was younger, I still watched my mouth, and even to this day i still dont curse very much, nor an I violent.

What type of people your children will be is up to you by how you raise them, and up to them by what they take away from your lessons. No child is going to learn everything from a tv show. Good or bad in anyone's perception is what you take away from the situation.

watching TV doesn't have ANYTHING to do with how a person raises their child =\. it's what YOU teach your child that matters.

ya, I was raised the way my parents taught me. I listened to them for the most part, but I wasnt trying to act like my favorite cartoon character.

Totally off topic-but I have a Holden too. And I know of one other mommy on here who has a Holden as well. Have you ever met another Holden IRL??

Obviously no adult cartoons but children cartoons i don't care. yes some of them have content meant to amuse the parents a little but kids don't catch on to that. I figure let my son watch what cartoons he wants, just put a limit to how long he stays in front of the TV. The best way to learn is not the TV. It's by doing things.

Quoting Kenz&LilysMommy:“ A toddler watching R rated movies is irresponsible IMO.”

i was watching chucky at like 3. my cousins watch whatever they want on tv and have since they were babies. and i promise you they are the most respectful, sweetest kids. my daughter is only 8 months and until 2 days ago she only watched the baby eistines. i put on monsters inc and over the hedge for her and she loves it. so she can watch more cartoons now that shes a little older. my son watches everything on nick jr. whatever he watch to watch i let him (childrens shows) i dont think tv has any impact on how my kids act. sometimes they watch a movie with me and their dad even rated r ones. well they arent really watching it they are playing while we watch it. but during the day they can watch whatever they want cause i dont watch tv.

Quoting Kenz&LilysMommy:“ I've taught my children anything and everything they know. A parent who allows their 2 or 3 year old ... [snip!] ... an R rated movie really needs some sort of parenting class. It is the children like that who end up having issues as teens IMO.”
imo the teens that have the worst problems are the one sheltered from everything. they will know whats on tv and much worst. thats something your gonna have to deal with. they will do alot of things before your ready for them to. either behind your back or whatever. tv is not real. and you need to be the one to teach them that. not try and shelter them from everything. what if they watch a scary movie at someone elses house. at a sleepover or something and you never taught them that it wasnt real. then they would be tramatized for life.

i would only let my son watch shows for kids and for everyone and long as there is no cussing and sexual suff.

My son watches whatever. He doesn't like TV much so you know if he's going to sit for a bit and watch Sponge bob or iCarly I let him. And he hears worse stuff than what goes on in Family Guy in our house so I don't know if it'd be that big a deal if he watched it
