My son only gets 1 hour of TV a day. He can watch yo gabba gabba, blues clues,or Thomas the train. I don't let him watch anything with commercials or bad words. I'm not okay with words like stupic, dummy exct. I hate when every other word out of a kids mouth is stupid this or that. It makes the parents look bad IMO.

My daughter watches whatever I watch on TV. Usually I'm just watching TV & it's the background noise. She doesn't sit still long enough to actually absorb any of it anyway.. Unless it's Madagascar or the Penguins of Madagascar.

But, she's been exposed to all of the rest of the shows on TV. I think it's up to me as a parent to teach her right & wrong.

personally, i don't feel that tv has THAT much to do with my child's behaivor. i do feel that they should watch age approraite shows. shows like fairly oddparents re meant for older kids, whereas spongebob is meant for younger kids. and dora is meant for even smaller kids. so what if i don't like it? i just won't watch it with them. shows that make me concerned are shows they won't see anyway. like family guy, or squidbillies. not that they would understand it anyway....
what really is wrong with a few noneducational shows? how many EDUCATIONAL SHOWS DO YOU WATCH? if the answer is less than everything, then let it go! and do you act like all the shows you watch? i sure in he;ll don't! and neither will your child if you ensure that certian behaivor is ONLY ok, with cartoons cause their not real.

I basically dont let my daughter watch tv. Shes 7 months old and i personally don't feel she needs to be watching it this early. She can start watching some shows at 2 but very limited.

Now lets say i have to do something really important like make a phone call or get dressed and i have no help then she is allowed to watch only seasame street, barney or mr. rogers neighborhood. If one of this three are not on i am veryy screwed.

yea, I like that kind of stuff. I dont really watch any sitcoms unless someone else has it on and I'm forced to watch it.
I love the shows about rare medical problems and things like that and Snapped, dear goodness, I could watch Snapped all day (I dont act like those people yet...but my husband is concerned none the less)

A toddler watching R rated movies is irresponsible IMO.

Kat is only allowed to watch shows that come on Sprout. It's great, they're generally educational, they sing so she can dance and I know Sprout as a company won't let on anything I don't like (such as Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents) Sprout will be the only thing allowed for several years I think.

Agreed. I would be responsible for giving my daughter nightmares because I let her watch Saw or the Grudge. Or what about making vulgar physical motions at daycare or her friends house because she saw that man do it on some rated R sex movie??? Kids do NOT always behave as well in front of others, especially OTHER kids, as they do in front of us.

Yes, we are supposed to teach our children right from wrong, but what about the actual psychological damage that can arise from subjecting young kids to extreme horror movies? My MIL is so incredibly frightened from ALL things "horror"---even regular old death in a drama--- because her parents let her watch their horror movie marathons when she was young.

My point is, I want my kids to stay carefree and INNOCENT for as long as possible--something that rarely happens anymore because parents are so filled with the notion that "oh they'll just do it/see it/say it later anyways, so why not let them now?"

Maddy was never allowed to watch Caillou. He's a little bitch and I swear watching it makes children whine like him.
