My bladder is hanging out?

posted 3rd Jul
I was itching down there so I thouhgt I had a yeast infection so I jump in shower to get washed up so I can go to the store and when I'm washing I feel all this weird stuff down there. I get my huge mirror andtake a look and I can clearly see there is something wrong. I have this huge lump and extra skin all over. I call my doc immediatly and she tells me to get yest infection meds and make an appointment on Monday but it sounds like during birth my ligaments and muscles got stretch and my bladder is hanging out. Super gross I know. Anyone else have this or does anyone know anything about it?

Are you sure it's your bladder? At 4 weeks pp I went to the bathroom and started freaking out because I had a HUGE piece of placenta hanging out. I'm not sure how they missed such a huge piece but I called the Doctor and she had me come in right away to have it removed. At first I wasn't sure what it was and I told my husband I thought my uterus was falling out! Monday seems like such a long time to wait. Maybe you should try urgent care.

ummm are you sure it is not your cervix just hanging low. your bladder lays in front of your uterus. I highly doubt it is your bladder.

It's entirely possible. Bladder prolapse usually occurs as a result of childbirth... in your diagram, think of the bladder as a soft balloon... it can come loose frmo the ligaments holding it where it is and either go forward (over the pubic bone) resulting in a bulge in the lower abdomen. (easily fixed) or it can sink down and go backwards, imagine like a deflated balloon, at which point it can only protrude into and out of your vagina

I have heard of prolapsing vaginas, and uteruses but haven't heard of the bladder yet.I guess you learn something neweveryday.

I guess we will find out when the OP goes to the doc.

Yeah, basically anything in there can prolapse... the rectum too, ugh not a pretty sight!

No it's not! I'm sure exactly what it is yet but that's what the doctor suggested it might be over the phone. Sadly I have to wait until Monday to make an appointment. Yuck, could anything else go wrong?

i am SO happy this is being discussed! I just delivered my son about 7 weeks ago, but have moved to a new city therefore haven't had my 6 weeks check yet and am experiencing the SAME exact thing! I too thought it was a yeast infection (since, lets face it, i'm trying to fit into my old and way too tight jeans!) - but i looked in the mirror, and can even feel something that doesn't seem like it should be there. My insurance needs autho before making an appointment and i have to go down to the hospital to register myself, which isn't happening soon enought with a newborn! I'm calling my nurse in the am to see what she says. Does anyone know how easy this is to correct? Are we talking surgery here?! Angelbaby5150 - did you see your physician yet? if so, what did they say?

I did see the doc and he took a look... It turns out that since I had such a big baby things ripped that didn't need to be stiched back together that is why I was seeing things. Also since my daughter is so big (this is gross) my vaginal ring is stretch so I can see further inside my body. Nothing medically wrong with me but none the less disturbing.

As for the prolapsed bladder or uterus, there is something the docotor can insert every few months to hold everything in place but if it is more serious then surgery is needed. It's more scary then anything. You'll be alright till you see you doc but make sure to go soon.
