A little nervous.

posted 3rd Jul
Well I went to the Dr today. Everything looks great. I have made it to 26 weeks, and my cervix is still tightly closed. Whoo hoo! So far so good. I'm still taking things easy though.

The reason I am nervous is because I got the OK to go ahead with a VBAC delivery!! Which is awesome.. But she seemed a little aprehensive about it because I have alot of scar tissue from my first Csection. Anyways, I was just curious as to what all of you would do if you were in my shoes:

Go for the repeat C-Section, or try for the VBAC. The risk of uterine rupture is about 1 in 100 she told me today. She also told me that if I don't go into labor by 38 weeks, then I will have a section regardless. And if they think the baby might be too big they will also go in and do another csection. ahhh I am so torn up now.

Hows everyone else feeling on the holiday weekend?

If I would have been given the choice, I would have tried to VBAC!

I want to so badly. I had such a bad expierence with the C-Section I want to avoid that again at all costs. I just don't want anything to happen to the baby. Thats my biggest fear.

the danger is really on YOUR side-- not so much the baby's.

VBACs are about the same risk to you as a repeat c-section, actually... it's just that the doctors believe they're in more control if they're cutting you up instead of waiting for your body to deliver your child.

Pretty sore. I had a csectionlastsaturday. Doing good though with my lo and all   He sleeps between 2-3 hours at a time and barely cries so Im lucky so far!

They had tried inducing me last friday first. I was in so much pain, despite the epi that I had. The pitocin was horrid, and overpowered the epi after a while, and when the baby started to decend, the epi doesnt stop the pressure (feeling like I want to poop fora few hours straight is not my idea of fun!). He was too big. 9lbs at 37wks!!!When I have another baby, Ill probably opt to do the csection again. I dont want to go through hours of labor pains again. It was horrible (for me).

Thats the thing, I don't want to have the baby for their convience. I want to have him under my own terms. I got that taken away from me last time. I want to expierence it at least once.

Good to hear your little one is doing good!! Thats a large baby. hahaha. I was in labor for 7 hours the first time around. I know I can handle the pain. I just get worried something will happen to him. I don't worry about myself so much. Its him I am concerned about.

it's not that big of a deal one way or another -- but the risk of you having problems after a repeat c-section are what personally would put me off choosing that process again.

whereas w/ vaginal birth, there's a very real chance nothing will go wrong whatsoever.

i understand that you have this ideal around vaginal birth, but really, if you do end up w/ a repeat, you're not less of a woman/mom/whatever for it.

so long as you go in fully informed and have your rights respected, you'll be fine either way.

Thank you. I am doing all the research I can. I want to be as well informed as I can. I know its still weeks off, but I want to know what I am heading into.

I wish they had only kept my labor at 7 hours. I would have had a much better opinion on it lol. They started my labor at 7am friday morning and decided to do a csection at 5am Saturday morning. Yuck.. good luck with whatever you end up doing though! And if you do opt for the VBac - let me know how it went!

Wow.. 24 hours is a little long. lol. I know by the last leg of mine I was in some pretty sever pain. And thank you. I hope everything just falls into place.
