Quoting MommyRu: There are tons of studies, yes... however, all of which say that caffeine consumption may increase ... [snip!] ... born from mothers who consumed caffeine and turned out fine.... same goes for babies born from mothers who smoked.
Quoting MommyRu: But other studies show that even moderation is dangerous... do you pick and choose what study you like better? Is it a "better" risk to take than smoking one ciggie a day?
Quoting Erica (Jacob's mommy!): there are studies linking pitocin to autism, or vit d and lack of it to autism, or studies showing ... [snip!] ... maybe I will cut out caffeine, but right now, I truly don't see it as important... caffeine does not kill, smoking does...
Quoting MommyRu: Google it... you'll see millions of studies. I'm not trying to say caeffeine is worse than smoking, it's simply comparable. well i truly do not think they are comparable, imo, one's effects are way worse
Quoting Erica (Jacob's mommy!): well i truly do not think they are comparable, imo, one's effects are way worse

Quoting MommyRu: both have extreme risks...so does driving, or living in a big city, or riding a horse, or hiking...all have extreme risks of things that COULD happen, doesn't mean they're all comparable
Quoting Talvari: ...And it depends on the study done. The March of Dimes says this: http://www.marchofdimes.com/professionals/14332_1148.asp ... [snip!] ... baby (7). Women who drank eight or more cups a day had a 3 times higher risk of stillbirth than women who drank no coffee.Omg, does anyone drink 8 cups of coffee in one day?! I would be freaking out! I get shaky after one big cup so I could only imagine 8, or even 4. Even 5 sodas in a day sounds like a lot to me. Regardless of conflicting studies, I think it best to err on the side of caution. I had the occasional soda and did not drink coffee. I did eat chocolate, though not in huge amounts.
Quoting Audrey and Mommy: Smoking versus Caffeine? Smoking takes oxygen away from your baby's lungs. Caffeine is fine during pregnancy ... [snip!] ... during pregnancy and my girl is just fine.. I have my daily cup still today and I'm nursing and she is a exellent sleeper..
Quoting Maddox's Mama: Omg, does anyone drink 8 cups of coffee in one day?! I would be freaking out! I get shaky after one big ... [snip!] ... on the side of caution. I had the occasional soda and did not drink coffee. I did eat chocolate, though not in huge amounts.

Quoting MommyRu: I used to drink about 8-10 cups of coffee every day before I got pregnant... I cut down to 2 because, though I had no withdrawls quiting smoking.... coffee is evil!! Wow! I would be crazy if I drank that much! But then again, I only started drinking it when I was 25, so about four years ago. And two of those have been none (coffee, i mean) bc of pregnancy/bf. So I guess its kind of like alcohol, you build a tolerance.
Quoting mommyofangels21: ill be the first one to admit i havent stoped drinking soda. i have about 2 or 3 a day...but i only drink ... [snip!] ... both my kids were healthy and my son was born 8.2 lbs so i dont really believe caffine is as bad as they try to make it.Pretty sure coke zero does have caffeine. But caffeine free coke is good.
