MTV's 16 And Pregnant

So what's your opinion of it?


I watched this show for the first time today, expecting it to glamorize teen pregnancy. At first it kind of did, during the pregnancy part. But I was happy to see after the girl had her baby, she admitted to the cameras how hard it was and how frustrating and what it does to teen relationships with their friends. I'm sure every episode is different, but I hope teen girls considering getting pregnant take from it the reality of rasing an infant, that it's not all happy and cute and sweet all the time. Quite the contrary during the first few weeks and months. Especially for a collicky baby.

I like it bacause it shows a bit of reality, not just dressing your baby up and getting all kinds of attention. I think that it sends a good message for the most part.

i like the show. I HATE the secret life of an american teenager.

its honest
and it doesnt seem to leave out any of the bad moments
and how people are feeling.

I agree. At first I was like Wtf are they thinking??? But after seeing it, I just hope the girls watching see the reality of it.

i like it just because i like watchin all shows about pregnancy   lol i watch alot of "baby story" and "birth day" lol but i also think it shows SOME of the hard parts of having a new baby at such a young age.... i'm not gunna bash the sho because i'll admit i like it!! But to be honest I was a single teen mom and I really didn't have any problems   ... i did have an amazingly good baby though but for the most part things have been fairly smooth for me!!

I agree with both of you.

At first I thought oh they will make it look like a not so big of a deal and look so fun etc. but at the same time I like it because it shows them how hard it can be at times and that its not a walk in the park.

it wasnt as good as I expected it to be. One thing I noticed is none of the teen moms seem to be single. All the episodes Ive seen the girls had older boyfriends that they moved in with. In reality the majority or at least alot I think of teen moms are single cuz the guy freaks out. which makes the pregnancy way harder!!

I love this show and I am not even a teen parent. lol
Totally realistic and I hope other teens watch it and realize parenting is not as easy as it looks.

Lol I watch Secret Life religiously. It's not reality, but it's not making it look easy either. Besides, I just like all the drama, besides the girl with the baby.

I kind of think they portray the girls to be maybe more ignorant than they probably are in real life. I always worry when girls on here try to get cast for it because I feel like MTV will make them look like jackasses.

I have watch every episode.. Is a really cool show because it show you the pretty and the nasty face of teen pregnancy.. Iam gonna be a teen mom.. But I cant put my life like them, if i do iam gonna be frustrated since now.. I just stick 2 my plans and with my fiancee.. thats life.. shit happends.. but i dont regret nothing.. is part of life and well i just keep going...

The one I watched had the girl and her fiance not living together and after the baby was born, they're relationship went south. The dad didn't want to take care of the baby and just went out and partied with his friends all the time which was stressing the girl out a lot.

I bet that boy never spent one night with his son
