Food Stamps info. / for AL

My fiance and I want to apply for Food stamps.
We live in Alabama.
And live with my mother.

He works at I-hop and makes about $550 bi-weekly.
I am currently Un-employed...BUT I get SSI from my dad.
(He was disabled, and died in 2004)
I get ABOUT $1000 a month. (Not that I ever see that money, my mom mostly uses it to pay rent, utilitys, ext)

My question is...

1) Do you think we will be eligiable?
2) Do we HAVE to include my mom? (We are trying to just get it for the both of us)

Im completely CLUELESS on Food Stamps.
I know that our grocery bill is OUTRAGOUS every month, though.
And we are in need of some help in that department.

In VA you have to include the HOUSEHOLD income. if you get 1000 a month you're probably not going to qualify.

just go down to the social human service building fill out an app and talk to a worker.......

If you live with you mother, youll have to claim her income as well.
If you are getting $1000 SSI, plus your SO's $1100, plus your moms...No. I dont think youll be eligable.

You will NOT be eligible with that mush SSI. All states have different regulations but they threw mine out because of SSI.
And you live with your mom. So you wont be able to provide proof of rent?

Thats what I thought.

$1000 a month MAY seem like alot.
But believe me....Its not after paying rent & Utilities.
Rent itself is $650....and I dont handle the bills....But I have heard around the house that the power bill is killing us.

Im not included, forreal, on our household-finacial shit.

All I know is...When it comes to buying grocerys for the house...We usually DONT have much money for it.

You probably won't be able to get food stamps. You are an unmarried minor and your mom is entitled to that social security money to keep a roof over your head, so I hope you're not holding that against her.

You probably would, however, qualify for WIC. It won't buy all of your groceries, but will at least be a step in the right direction.

thats CHEAP for rent. I pay $1000 a month in rent alone and we still dont qualify   And i live on my own. Without my SSI we probably would barely bareeely qualify. I couldnt even get WIC when i was pregnant, and i was not working just recieving SSI then

power is high right now evreywhere...its so hot out and the rates keep going up. they;ve gone up twice in the last 9 months here.

I already get WIC.
All I can say is....We never have to buy milk...thats one good thing.

Um. I hold it against my mom when 1) I cant get married because SHE wont receieve that check anymore...and she wont get out and get a job so she CAN pay the rent when I DO get married.
2) I never see any money for myself.....ever.
3) She cant ever pay the damn rent on time.

But thats a totally diff. subject.
Just...dont incinuate that im unapperciative...When you dont know my story.

My best advice for now-- I know it would be hard, if not impossible, to find a job when you are less than 2 months from having a baby. But in the meantime, cut coupons, shop the sales, and shop at foodbanks if you have to to save money on your grocery bill. It can be done.

I live in a small-ass town.
My rent is HIGH for where im living.
