Ugh Hospital Won't Give Me a Tour!

posted 2nd Jul
The first hospital was small and private I was completely inlove with it until yesterday my doctor asked me to go to the larger hospital instead when I go into labor because he prefers it.

I keep calling them asking them for a tour and they keep giving me the run around saying "Ummm .. we're busy and completely filled up right now. Call back later"

How am I ever supposed to see the place and ask questions if they have no time for me? The tour is very important to me because I want to learn about the environment me and my baby will be in and how the people who will be treating us treat me. So far they seem very short, rude, busy and non accommodating. I really don't want this kind of service from them when I give birth!

I'm so pissed. I wanna go back to my old hospital

I would just show up one day and tell them to give you a tour or schedule one for you right then and there.

geezus, get over it. They are busy w/ women currently giving birth. Put yourself in the L&D shoes...would you want the doc ditching you (or a nurse) in the middle of delivery b/c, shucks, someone wants a tour?

Tours are given IFFFFFFF volunteers are available.

Our hosptial didn't require a time for a tour or whatever you just could walk in and request one and if a nurse wasn't busy they would take you around and see the sights.

Nah the website has very little information. It really just goes on and on about how the room is like a luxury suite instead of a hospital room, but it doesn't say why except for the marble floors and huge space which I really don't give a shit about lol.

At my first hospital you just show up and they had people available to show you around. I appreciated seeing everything first and being able to ask questions as they came into mind. Like in the first hospital they had devices to be able to let the baby sleep in the room with me and they explained everything they do and they showed me where the elevators were, how they were protected and demonstrated the security bracelets the baby and I would be wearing to prevent anything from happening.

And then they gave me a list of things I would need to bring for myself and the baby and what all the provided for me. They were very sweet, let me ask questions and didn't rush me at all.

Just things like that that made me feel happy and calm about delivering there.

thats how my hospital worked, they would show you around if someone wasn't busy, of course if there were a ton of mommies giving birth or lots of brand new babies they wouldn't be able to give you the tour, but even without it they told you everything and showed you everything when you were there, i love my hospital, i won't deliver anywhere else if i don't have to, and its a very large hospital, but its very personal and nice.

Doctors don't give you the tour, dummy. Typically it's the nurses, assistants or volunteers.

I never said I wanted anyone to ditch anyone else. I said I'm tired of being given the run around "Oh well have time and plenty of rooms in 45 minutes call back then and come in"

45 minutes later "Oh we can't were all booked up and don't have a room to show. Call back tomorrow!"

It would be nice if someone said "Well, we don't have a room to show right now but if you would like to come up and take a look around the floor we can do that." And then they could just explain to me what's in the rooms while I'm there.

Their luxury hotel suites aren't ALL I'm interested in.

Just tell your doctor you prefer the smaller hospital. He didn't say you had to go to that certain hospital, just that he prefers it.
