Quoting Mommy to be to number 2:“ Why are you having sex at 14??? MY god your a baby yourself!!!!!”

Not the point of the post.

OP-- It's not weird. I'm 19 and I BF my son. I don't really have a set period of time that I will BF him, but when I stop BFing, I'll pump and give it to him in a bottle...

That's not the question she asked, nor is it even relevant to the topic.

you should get a hooter hider if you don't already have one. i love mine, people who aren't staring won't even realize you're bfing, it just looks a shawl.

Mehh, I don't really care if people know it or not. If he's hungry, I feed him, if the people around me don't like it, they can turn away.

wat does your being a teen have anything to do with it? your a mom every mothers milk comes in & its the mothers choice some people can't because of thier daily lives but yu didnt have to bring yur age into it because its not wierd at all your just like any other mother in this world.

I plan to breastfeed my child when he/she is born; my aunt breastfed her kids all until they were between 6-9 months, it is very healthy and good, it just takes a while to ween them off and onto a bottle or sippy cup. Also, depending on the milk you drink, your baby could come out lactose intolerant. I don't know all the correlations, but you can ask your doctor.

actually, 6 - 9 months is a fairly early weaning time slot. it's really better to let your child wean voluntarily than to force it on them.

or wean later when they have stronger stomaches and are eating a wider variety of foods to replace the many nutrients they get in breastmilk.

Hm; so you should breastfeed longer than that? I mean, my aunt is a nurse and she said thats about how long she went for each child, then she just pumped and fed them in a bottle instead. So they still got breastmilk, but she was trying to wean them off of her and onto a bottle.

6 to 9 months is super early to wean. The WHO recommends breastfeeding for two years or longer. Why pump when they can get it from the tap directly? It is much easier to just put them to the breast than pump and risk losing your supply. Nothing empties your breast like a baby, not even a pump and that can create supply problems... It sounds like your aunt is going on some very outdated information.

yep! you know your sturff...

there really is no reason to wean that early unless it's for the mom's convenience.

i'm still bf-ing (w/out bottles) my 16 month old son and planning to wean at the end of october-- (a little early by WHO standards, but a convenient time for me b/c i'll be flying out of the state for a few days and leaving him w/ his dad).

Thank you!

Continuing to BF after a year at all, is praiseworthy, in my opinion. By that time, it comes down to whatever works for the child and the Mother.

Well, thanks for that info. I will keep it in mind. I think my aunt did it that way because she did use a pump. IDK. She also sent all her kids to daycare/preschool at like 2/3 also, so she did everything weird, but her kids are all healthy.
