re: Bone Marrow Transplant?

It is supposed to be painful, but they numb you and give you painkillers for after. I'm on the marrow registry, and I'd do it in a second. The chances of them finding a match for bone marrow are very slim, one in the hundreds of thousands at least, it isn't like donating blood where you just have to be the same blood type. So if he is a match for someone, he could be their only hope.

I had it done when I was younger bc my mom had cancer and they were trying to find a match within our family. It hurts like HELL! I would rather give birth over and over then have to do that again. It was probably some of the worst pain. But I mean it was my mom. Who wouldn't have done it. You get a chance to save someones life, so to me it was worth it.

Ive done it before and will be doing it again.
It hurts LIKE A BITCH!!
But it really is worth it, marrow isnt like giving blood, finding a match can be a lot more difficult, and because of the amount of pain involved people are a whole lot less likely to do it.

A girl I work with has a granddaughter that is 11 and she has leukemia. Her little sister who was 4 gave her the marrow. The little girl did REALLY well and said there wasn't much pain. I guess the situation is different for different people..
