Agreed-It is one thing to say "I don't agree with CIO here is what I do instead" but people feel it is more helpful to bring people down and make you feel like you are a child abuser because what you do with your child is different then what they feel is right.

The reason everyone is pissed is because she is giving shitty advice to the OP saying it's okay to let a 5 week old CIO.

I think also, people on here want to make sure that someone doesn't take her horrible advice and think it's okay to let an infant CIO. That is the advice she gave originally gave, then she posts that she doesn't let her own baby CIO. Well then why did she tell the OP that it would be okay for her to??? It makes no sense!

i personally don't agree with CIO at ANY age. But some doctors will tell you its fine. it's all in a matter of opinion. parents a time ago did the CIO thing and kids ended up somewhat ok. it's really a person to person thing

Even the CIO people say not before 6 months, after 6 months, yes it's a parenting decision. Letting an infant at 5 weeks old CIO is bordering on abuse and is proven to bepsychologically damaging to the infant.

Why do people have to dismiss research and evidence if it doesn't support their beliefs or practices? It just seems so immature to me. Just because I smoke doesn't mean I don't accept it causes diseases. Just an example because I was once a smoker.

Pyschologically speaking I understand fully. Plus, anecodotal information often leads to reasonable conclusions. I often feel that this site is full of misguided information and potentially harmful information. It is slightly amusing to me that the norms on this site condemn trying to induce labor early, etc. yet has many members willing to support ideas such as formula is just as good as breastmilk or that introducing a sippy cup and solidsat 3 month is completely fine.

Will formula feeding or sippy cups cause psychological harm?

Comparison fail.

Your comparisons are irritating. There is NOTHING wrong with giving your child a sippy at 3 months. I gave Nathan a sippy at 6 or 7 months old to play with and he loved it. He still had a bottle till 13 months when he weaned himself.
