Quoting LivsMarmie: Honestly people- I don't believe in CIO either but do you think non stop attacking someone for something ... [snip!] ... may or may not do is okay?? You have voiced your opinon now let it go! That is not what this post was about give it a rest!
Quoting Jessicaox.: THANK YOU! I swear you can never make a mistake on this site without getting bitched at.
Quoting LivsMarmie: Agreed-It is one thing to say "I don't agree with CIO here is what I do instead" but people feel it ... [snip!] ... and make you feel like you are a child abuser because what you do with your child is different then what they feel is right. The reason everyone is pissed is because she is giving shitty advice to the OP saying it's okay to let a 5 week old CIO.
Quoting LivsMarmie: Agreed--Some people just need drama in their life or to tear people down to make themselves feel better
Quoting Trip's milk machine: I think also, people on here want to make sure that someone doesn't take her horrible advice and think ... [snip!] ... that she doesn't let her own baby CIO. Well then why did she tell the OP that it would be okay for her to??? It makes no sense!

Quoting NOAH MICHAEL 6/5/09☼: i personally don't agree with CIO at ANY age. But some doctors will tell you its fine. it's all in a ... [snip!] ... a matter of opinion. parents a time ago did the CIO thing and kids ended up somewhat ok. it's really a person to person thingEven the CIO people say not before 6 months, after 6 months, yes it's a parenting decision. Letting an infant at 5 weeks old CIO is bordering on abuse and is proven to bepsychologically damaging to the infant.

Quoting NOAH MICHAEL 6/5/09☼: IMO thats absolutely true! BUT to some its not. in some states such a thing is considrered abuse. in others its not.Why do people have to dismiss research and evidence if it doesn't support their beliefs or practices? It just seems so immature to me. Just because I smoke doesn't mean I don't accept it causes diseases. Just an example because I was once a smoker.

Quoting NOAH MICHAEL 6/5/09☼: o i totally know what you mean!! i often wonder the same thing
Quoting Trip's milk machine: Pyschologically speaking I understand fully. Plus, anecodotal information often leads to reasonable ... [snip!] ... ideas such as formula is just as good as breastmilk or that introducing a sippy cup and solidsat 3 month is completely fine.

There is NOTHING wrong with giving your child a sippy at 3 months. I gave Nathan a sippy at 6 or 7 months old to play with and he loved it. He still had a bottle till 13 months when he weaned himself.
