I suspected before 8 weeks, and I found out at 9 weeks 6 days. I continued to bf (he was 14-15 months I think when I found out I was pregnant) until about 18-20 weeks pregnant, but then I wasn't gaining weight so the doc suggested I wean, and we did very gradually. I wanted to tandem nurse since he was 22 months when they were born, but in hindsite I'm glad I weaned him, because 3 on the boob is just too much for me, but I do feed him pumped milk now

aww thats awesome! It has got to take soooo many calories to breastfeed 3. And even to just be pregnant with one or two and still breastfeeding one or two. Im only 110 lbs so I need to make sure I eat enough and drink tons of water!

No we weren't TTC. lol IT took us years of TTC to get the girls. When we did (natural no meds ect..) we were over joyed and thought that was all we were going to get. SUPRISE!!! lol

I am excited to wean them actually. I want my body to me for a while. lol I know that sounds shitty to say but, I am not meeting their nurishment demands anymore. Because of that, they are latching longer and sucking harder. Well it hurts damn it! lol That and I am ready for them to have sleep overs at Aunties house and Gramma's. With me nursing, they seem to struggle to be independant of me (I stay home as well). With a new baby coming it seems the most logical thing for me to do. This way they will have been off the bewbie for a while and when new baby is on there is no fight. Right now they fight and get jealous of the other. lol

Thanks!

She's 18 months and only nursing 2-3 times a day now.

I got AF back at 16 months but DH was out of town that month. So, one cycle together without catching the egg. I'm charting and it's pretty obvious that I'm ovulating, so I'm really hopeful for this month.

I do understand wanting your body to yourself for a little while. I feel like I haven't had that in forever lol. We have a hard time with sleep overs too. He has stayed at my moms a few times but its hard. I stay at home with Noah too, so he is very attached to the mama. I kind of worry that he will be jealous with the new baby, I still want him to get plenty of attention. Im going to let him choose when he wants to wean though unless the doc says we have to for some reason.

That's how big I was too! Well, I was 114 at first, but I was 106 before 10 weeks pregnant. 110 is my normal weight, but I hold on to an extra 5 pounds until I wean.

My girls refuse bottles and sippies are not for mommy milk I guess. They will drink anything but mommy juice from a sippy. lol Being pregnant I won't have my body to me but better than the twins fighting over bewbie in the morning. lol

So your pretty much the same boat as us. Noah is a month younger....I feel like he nurses more than that most days lol but hes teething and got a cold and all that fun stuff. Well good luck to you guys! Lots of baby dust! How long did it take you guys to get your daughter?

Emery only nurses to go to sleep now. We had to partially wean her because she was refusing to eat solids all together.

It took us 4 months to conceive Emery, but only sort of. The first month of BC I didn't have a period and then the next two he was at basic training. The next two months we were only seeing each other on weekends. So it was four months of hit or miss.

This month, on the other hand, we had "mandatory" sex every night of O week

Even though many women tandem nurse, I have read that sometimes there is a problem with growth in the newborn if the older child isn't weaned by 7 months. It's the same way in Dairy cows, they have to be not nursing their calfs for a few months before giving birth or their milk production is no good. There was only one study I could find on it, and it was done in Peru, so it's not the best info, but it was enough to make me relieved that we were weaning before then. I think the theory is that your body doesn't get the message to start making "newborn" milk with tons of calories and fat if it never got a break from lactation. The thing that makes me wonder if it is true is that I never got any sore boobs or growth in my boobs while pregnant with the twins until AFTER Shep was weaned for a month. Usually that's the first pregnancy symptom for me, but it didn't happen this time. Finally after he weaned they grew and got sore. PLUS, when the pedi (who is very pro bfing) found out I was feeding Shep pumped milk, she said that's fine as long as the twins were growing well, and said that she had noticed poor growth in newborns whose mom's tandem nursed. So all those things combined made me think that there may be something to the study in peru and the dairy cow thing.

Anyway, tons of women do tandem nurse, so it must be ok, but it was enough to make me think. I'd rather my newborn have a big healthy milk supply than my toddler be able to continue nursing.

eta:7 months into the pregnancy, not 7 months of age in the older child.
