I agree, when my sister and I got chicken pox every mother in the neighborhod wanted to bring their kid over and get it over with, lol, now we're terrified to let our own bodies protect themselves naturally from some of the simplest of diseases and viruses... my parents made me get a flu shot one year and that was the ONLY time I have ever had a case of the flu that bad... I trust my own immune system and that of my son and I do everything I can to make sure my son's thrives... I feel completely secure in that decision.

Good for you mama   I had the flu shot once, and got the flu so bad I wanted to die. The only time I've had it in my life! People don't realize the flu changes almost constantly, you can't protect against it with a shot. And the fuss made over chicken pox cracks me up. People say "Oh my gosh but it can have such bad side effects, people die from it" well guess what, people die from the common cold and pnumonia also. I wouldn't do such an un-needed vaccine. It is silly IMO>

I agree, and little do people know there are some pretty serious side effects you can get from vaccines too... it's just assumed that since the government okays them they must be "safe" but most people have no idea that the government is also dolling out big bucks to families who have injured children BECAUSE of those vaccines. Majority of the vaccines I really don't give a second thought to, I see no need. There are really only a few that I am kind of, hmm, should I shouldn't I... though at this point Aidan is doing so well I really don't think I'll ever see enough of a need that I'll risk giving them to him...

Yep my daughter who is now 3.5 had a horrible reaction to her 2mth shots. ONLY ones she ever had. She spiked a 104-105 fever, went lethargic, wouldnt eat and had seizures. We ended up taking her to childrens where the only conclusion 4 doctors could come up with was a reaction to her vaccines. The gov't does have a foundation that pays famalies who are injured or killed due to shots. Scary stuff.

A friend of mine mentioned once while we were at a restaurant that EVERYTIME her son gets his shots, he throws up nearly everything he eats for 2 weeks straight and hardly stays awake... I just sat there and stared at her: That would be a huge red flag to me!! But her pedi keeps telling her it's fine and normal

I just watched that one the other night! I agree with you I would be so mad if my son caught something from a child who isn't vaccinated..

Quoting Courtney*heart*James:“ I dont know about the MMR but I would highly advise to really think about the rotovirus shots.”

My child almost died from Rotovirus. We spent a week in the hospital and my daughter spent the first three days dry heaving and shitting blood. It's a serious illiness and people should vaccinate for it. They didn't have it when my oldest was born(which is why she got so sick) but you can damn sure bet I got her younger siblings vaccinated.

so the ones that dont vaccate...you wouldnt care if your child killed someone elses child due to you not vaccinating? just a question..

Same thing happened to us. My 4 yr old son spent 6 days in the hospital and almost died b/c of it in April of this year. His younger brother (2 years) caught it as well but managed to fight it off better (still violently ill, but didn't almost die). The first vaccine they came out with though for it, did have a lot of issues- it caused serious digestive problems in a small percentage of the kids who took it- it was recalled and they came out with a safer one a few years ago- that we had held off getting b/c of the issues with the first, thankfully by the time my baby was due for the vaccine, I felt they had done enough research on it, and I left him get it- only about 2 weeks before my other sons got it! I don't even want to think about what would have happened if he had caught it from his older brothers.

Anyway onto the OT. Personally I vaccinate my kids, but I still do a lot of vaccine research. As far as the whole autism thing- my firstborn we held off vaccines- he has autism. My other two have had most if not all vaccines on schedule- no autism there. Most studies point to either a genetic link, or a link between what happened to the mom during pregnancy or the birth for the cause of autism.

I would be sad if any child died, but would I feel guilty? Not at all. It is a personal choice for my family and my child. The risks of vaccines outweight any benefit to me by far and my childs health and safety is number one to me. Not "what could" happen to someone elses child.

I would tell the parents that my daughter isn't vaccinated before bringing them around.
And do you have all YOUR shot, like 30 of them..if not you could be killing kids.

that to me is responsible. that you would tell them. other parents dont care. as a matter of fact a few on here wished they would get my kids sick. at that point it would be up to the parent if the risk outweigh the benifits of their child being around a unvaccinated child.

im not talking about you directly but to me as a mother if someone killed my child cause they failed to vaccinate their child and failed to tell me that they havent gotten their childs shot, their would be hell. id probably go to prison for awhile. the same thing if someone were to kill my child any other way. if my child had pnumona (sp?) and i took them to daycare and someone else got sick and died i would feel guilty as hell and never forgive myself

But the reality of it is, you will never know if every child/adult/teen/ederly person you encounter on a daily basis has had every "needed" vaccine. Ever. I will not parade my children around with Tshirts on that say "I am unvaccinated". I shouldn't have to. It is a choice. The same choice as being a vegetarian or anything else. Those children don't broadcast it either. The world is full or risks it is just part of life.
