navy..

My SO was wondering if he signed up for the navy when he turns 18 and leaves when he graduates( In June 2010) will he still get paid the enlistment pay...or will they keep it from him because he left late...this is all confusing to me and he wanted me to look it up on there website but I couldn't find anything to do with what he was asking...I really don't understand anything about the whole enlistment thing...thanks for any answer's

and I don't know why he can't just sign up after he graduates..

i think its elistment pay. my so is going to get officer pay in the AF but thats what happened with my cousin

Do you mean the enlistment bonus? I'm a little unclear about what you're asking.

Oh, and yeah, the navy website is crap about that. Why doesn't he just talk with his recruiter?

why oesn't he just sign up in june 2010. i don't thnk he'll get money until he leaves anyway. the way it was explained to me, the pay is mostly money for uniforms anyway...but it's way too much to be used for uniforms and you keep what's not used

so he gets the money when he leaves for the training, so it shouldn't matter whether or not if he joined now or later

well you have enlisted which is like lowest paid then and officer is who elisted are under. you have to go to school to be an officer or work your way up

Yeah, he'll still get his money. A lot of people that are joining now are actually having to wait to go to 'boot camp'. The navy is literally 'getting full'. A lot of the recruiter stations are reducing the quota of people to recruit and their recruits are having to wait longer and longer from the time that they signed up. It shouldn't affect his enlistment bonus.

No, I don't think so. It's usually dispersed in increments over time.

well his dad is in the navy (so I don't know why he just doesn't ask him!) and his dad told him that he would be good at being a MAA....(I think its Master At Arms)..what rank is that??
