Starting solids with your preemie

I'm currently researching the 'rules' regarding introducing solids to a premature baby for my baby food website. I understand that parents are often giving conflicting advice re when to start (adjusted age vs actual age, for example). I'm hoping to include a page on my site which brings together the advice and experiences of parents who have been through this, in order to help others who are trying to make an informed decision about how and when to start.

I started mine with cereal/babyfood at 4 months,

i asked brysons Ped last time i went what age to use in regards to when he should start things and he told me to go by his actual age and not his "adjusted" since afterall that IS is real age......he sad at four months or so to start introducing him to the spoon w/ rice cereal...he didnt give me a specific age to start jar food just said when hes got a good handle on the rice to proceed w/ veg then go to fruits, and lastly jar food w/ meats....i started bryson on veg at about 5 months.....3 months adjusted.....

Westarted Paige on solids according to her adjusted age... she was 3 months premature, so I didn't introduce solids (rice cereal) until she was 8.5 months old. She was on high-calorie formula and gaining weight really well up to that point... we continued on the high-calorie formula (plus the solids) until she was 12 months, then switched to regular formula for 2 months before finally transitioning her over to whole milk.

As for her solid food, she HATED the rice cereal... after 2 weeks we started her on stage 1 veggies (she was 9 months old, 6 months adjusted) and she liked those tons better. She was on stage 2 jarred food until a year old.The transition to more "solid" food like stage 3 jars was very hard; she hated the texture and refused to eat it. She also had some weakness in her arms and resisted self-feeding. But a month of feeding therapy allowed her to finally eat truely solid food and feed herself.

Sorry I just seen this....but we just went to the doctor today and he told us to start him on baby foods in about 2 mths which will make him about 6 mths in real age....but I thought my baby would act like a 3 mth old since that would be his gestational age......I wouldnt give a 3 mth old real food....its so confusing...wic said the same thing as the doctor too.

yeah my dr said to treat him like he was his actual age...not his adjusted...which i wasnt expecting but thats what im gonna do
