re: How to choose a baby name

posted 20th Jun
Help I need a middle name for my baby boy!
This is my third child and my 2nd son, so my dads name has already been used.

Babies Dads name is : Jeffery Paul This will be his first and only child due to his age. * But Paul is OUT!
We are both Irish and so I love "Aiden" as a first name. And we are both ok with "Aiden". And a 2nd middle is not out of the question.
I also have concidered "Aiden Jeffery Culwell" and "Jeffery Aiden Culwell" I like the idea of his initials being JAC, but not too keen on Jeffery as a first name, lol.
I also like "Avery" as a possible middle but it may be to ryhmie....
any help is appreciated...

looking for help with boy names...I have considered malachi, kingston, and xavier but can't stick with them more then a week. the dads name is Pierre and really wants that to be the first name but I'm not sure. I'll probably have it in there somewhere. I want something unique but that will look good on an application. I also think I want at least two middle names...not really sure why...please help me out(I don't like traditional mike, john, steve names tho)

Malachi is a nice name- but beware of spelling/pronounciation.
I knowa guy with that name, and he got it pronounced mal-ar-chee

I'm not racist, but I feel sorry the for kids of some black people that spell their kids names all wrong just so it seems unique.
Names can still be unique when spelled right.
I went with a biblical name and named my Son Joash.

My husband is a corporate exec that works in the legal department- he has told me that while he does not hire new employees, there are people on that team that actually throw away resumes without even looking at them if they see an ethnic name at the top. In a time of need, Would you hire a lawyer named Ta"Mika or Shaquandonda??? Prob not.
Its also in the book "Freakonomics"

I think I have decided on Tate or Tatumfor either a boy or a girl... I'm not sure on a middle name yet..... I think that so be it name your child what YOU want. They'll make the best of it and what happens is what happens. There's no sense in arguing about it on here!

I think I have figured out a name...not that it wont change tommorrow. Dad's name is Pierre my dad's middle name is edward so I came up with Pierre-Xavier for the first name and Kingston Edward Jackson for the rest. My Fieance really wants him to have his first name and he has been so helpful the last few months even with all my mood swings and temper tantrums...I've been bad lol plus its his first boy. I like Kingston better but if you just say the first and last name kingston jackson doesn't sound right. I like the first name hifinated with Xavier tho.Well let me know what u guys think

well I like some of the tips on here for picking names but my best suggestion is pick a name that means something to you. My SO is jewish and in the jewish faith you name after the dead. You either take the whole first/middle name and use that or you take the first letter form the first/middle name and come up with a new name using that letter. My second tip is just trust yourself you will know when the name is right. About 2 years before I had my daughter I had this dream and in it my mom had 5 babies at once(which is imposible because she can no longer carry a full term pregnancy she hasnt made it pas 5 months the last 12 times) there were three boys and two girls all of them had names except the smallest boy. In the dream I kept telling my mother she needed to name him because we couldnt keep calling him "Little man/boy". At that point in the dream she told me well why dont you go on ahead and name him for me. So I picked him up and out of no were(I say out of no were because until I had this dream I had never in my life heard this name before) lets name him Kaydence. Well when I woke up I knew that was the name for my daughter(yes even though it was 2 years before I had her I always knew I was going to have a little girl first). Shortly after that my great grandmother passed away and she had played a huge role in my life so I wanted to name my daughter after her. Her name was Carzell(no Im not kidding that really was her name) so we changed the spelling and wound up with Caydence Marie Sooley (we got the Marie form my best friend who killed herself at the age of 17). Well as some of you know Caydence died the day after she was born so I plan on nameing my next child after her. For a boy I want to name him Cayden Mathew and for a girl I really want to keep the first name Caydence because it has alot of meaning for me what do yall think?

There are a lot of places to get good ideas for names and you can also find different spellings as well, all over the internet, for example i don't know if i'm having a boy or girl yet and i'm 17 weeks but the two names i have picked out are Bryanna Rea for a girl i didn't like the traditional Brianna so i looked at baby name places and i liked the brianna but i didn't like the spelling so i looked up different spellings for it and found one i liked, and i have chosen Julian Xavier For a boy i have always liked that name. One thing i took into thought was pronounciation and spelling i wanted some thing cute and simple that wasn't insanely common being that my name is, i know at least 4 other Sarah's, even when the spelling is different it gets confusing.
