i agree. leticia spelled like that is actually an italian name and chantel is french for to sing. i think they are beautiful names.

im naming my daughter Alessandrea Ambrielle

Alessandrea , Alessandria is a city in italy . but we are spelling it with an e instead of an i bc my bf has a fav aunt andrea. Ambrielle is irish/gaelic meaning celtic jewel.

I'm planning on naming my baby Kaydence if it is a girl which is originally spelled Cadence and I don't think spelling has anything to do with how the child turns out. My name is Katherine and i've had to spell that out millions of times.....it's really not a big deal. I think Kaydence will have to spell her name over and over whether it's Cadence or Kaydence or Kaidense or however it's spelled. I like the spelling Kaydence becuase we both start with the letter K and it's spelled the way it's pronounced.

My name is Jordan and I have always been under the impression that it is a dominately female name. I know several Jordans, and all but one are girls. The only problem I have ever had with my name was wanting it to be more creative. In middle school, I went through a phase of spelling it "Jourdyn." I think it is adorable, but it gets old having to explain to everyone that no, that is not how my name is legally spelled.

I don't know what gender my baby is yet, but if it is a girl it will be Jayden McKinley. If it is a boy, either Sebastian Elliott or Elliott Sebastian...I haven't really decided.

I am having no luck coming up with a girl's name that has NO nickname! I HATE nicknames. My name is Anne and I was called "Annie" until I was about 20 years old and I always hated it even when I was little. No matter what name I find I can make some kind of nickname out of it, and there will always be stupid people who put a "Y" at the end of it and I will have to keep telling them to stop. Are there ANY names that have no nickname?

I'm not sure, but trust me on this one....you can make a nickname out of anything.....someway, somehow she'll have a nickname even if you didn't think of it.

My Sister's name is Hailey, and we've never come up with a nickname for her-nor has anyone else, but LOTS of little girls have that name so it's kind of an either/or type thing.

Thats about it.. I want it to flow and it is hard finding a boys name beginning in L thats not outrageous!!!!

hi all. I read pretty appalling statements here. and I am quite sadened by some mentalities out there. I am thankful for globalization as it will help a lot of people broaden their horizon and learn how to be tolerant of others.
First of, I just wanted to say that naming a child is a personal journey. Parents do spend a lot of time trying to figure out a name they like and that will adequately suit their child. So it is rude and quite intolerant to make assumptions (especially derogatory ones) based on people's names.
As for those who said certain names automatically disqualify their owners from certain work postions (aka climbing the social ladder), i'll tell them that they are part of the problem, for encouraging and perpetuating such discrimination.
This world would be such a better place to live in if we could stop judging one another so ridiculously on petty issues, and just get to KNOW one another for the better. There are some retarded Keisha's (sorry just an example) out there, just like there are highly intelligent Keisha's around. Likewise you have some idiotic john's who do not in a million year compare to smart-ass john. So, maybe you have dealt with a person who gave you a certain impression, but for cry out loud, do not make a generalization and assume that all individuals in that person's racial group or those with similar sounding names are x, y, z. We are all humans and there are good and bad ppl everywhere.
On a final note, let me remind some that Condoleezza ( as in the secretary of state Condi Rice) is not the obvious mainstream all american name, yet her file was not trashed because of some ignorant HR worker's lack of work ethics.

Anyhow, I just found out yesterday that I was expecting and I came to this site to get ideas for names and tips on the whole experience since this is my first pregnancy.
To go back to the original topic: I am thinking about naming my child Mastaba if it's a girl and Lumumba if it's a boy. any thoughts?

So according to my darling daddy the best way to decide on a name for your child is to give them a name that they can use as a supreme court justice or as a mechanic, AND to ensure that the name is the "right" name go to your back door and yell the prospected name first middle and last tosee if it rolls off of your tongue...if it does it is the right name for your child. Maybe it's a southern thing...but I did it! LOL

Crazy but true. If you was to go the back door and yell something like Luminarous Donantay (just made that up lol) im pretty sure your neighbors would question your mental stability.....so I agree with you Prego Redneck.....Im also from the south
