re: circumcising my 3 yr old

!!! agreed more likely to get infected! my son is almost 3 and he is always touching at his when his diaper is off or he is in the tub.

She wasn't asking IF she should do it.... she has already made up her mind and that's not what she asked advice for. I don't understand why everyone is responding to that instead of what she was asking about.

I agree with what someone else said, at least he is old enough to tell you that he is hurting so that you can take care of it.
DH had his done when he was 1 bc him mom didn't think to have it done when he was born. I know that's a big age difference but he doesn't remember having it done and I don't think your son will either.
Thinking back I don't have many memories from when I was 3... I think it should be fine. You might want to explain to him what is going on though. You don't want him to just be hurting and not understanding why.

Babies don't remember it. At 3 he will remember the pain! Its not like all she has to do is put vaseline and gause on it! Its not that easy when they get that age! I'd just leave it!! I'm not saying they don't feel the same pain!

yea my mom asked the same but no that's not why. it's just something that i wanted when he turned about 1. i just think that there's lots (not all) of guys that wish they were circumcised and i don't want my son to be one of them. my friend has a boyfriend who is 18 and wants to get circumcised. i'm not sure if he will or not, but he hates it. also the health things that the dr told me helped make my decision easier.

he will be fully asleep. it'll be like a surgery so he won't feel anything until afterwards which will mostly be sensitivity from what my boyfriend says.

Also, if you've had sex with, and I'm assuming have been in close proximity to, a circ and uncirc. penis than shouldn't you know the difference and easily figure out how to clean it?

? i didn't say anything about remembering or knowing something is different or playing with it wtc....my point was BABY'S FEEL PAIN THE SAME AS ADULTS DO. pain doesn't get worse bc you're 3 weeks, 3 years, or 30 etc...i gave no opinion on what she was doing. i simply quoted and replied to someone else's comment.

Oh, that's good to know that he'll be asleep. This is an interesting topic. Keep us posted as to how the surgery went, his recovery, etc. I'd be interested to know how he fares.

link/? if you're right, great! but i still stick with the fact that too many people seem to think newborns don't go through ain during circucision, shots. etc.....i'd love to see a link though & i wasn't trying to be rude to you. i'm just saying it hurts newborns as well. and it's going to hurt a 3 yr old!

thanks! not many people i guess understood my question. maybe i worded it wrong? but yea i guess i'm gonna have to find a way to explain. before i took him to the dr to see if he could get circumcised i warned that they would touch it so he was ready lol. maybe i'll do something similar to that! =]

did u NOT get what i said, I said "its not that a baby will feel it any more or any less than a 3 year old"
