My weekly WIC VENT or at least its seems that way.

UGH!!! I know WIC is helpful and I am grateful for it. But when I come in there with a prescription from my Pediatrician for my daughter to get Alimentum formula ( $27 a can roughly, depending on where you live) and it has everything we have tried and FAILURE TO THRIVE is listed, bc my breast milk is causing her acide reflux to act up worse, WHY would you continue to PUSH the breastfeeding issue with me.
I am beyond TORE up about needing to stop the breast feeding. I have cut all kinds of stuff out of my diet to help her acid reflux, I'm not happy. If I cut anymore out I'm going to starve and dry up! My Pedi is tore up that we need to stop bc my LO is such a great breast feeder. I do all I can for her reflux elevated sleeping sitting up for 2 hours after eating Zantac (max dosage) twice a day.
But seriously they only want to give me 4 cans a month and to continue breast feeding and in the dieticians words " We don't understand why your doctor wants you to stop breast feeding its what is best for your baby, so we are only going to give you four cans and a breast pump."
There is a REASON you bitch!!! The DR wants it I have tried everything they asked I really have... I dont want to stop but my baby isn't growing like she should and is constantly "spitting up" (their words) and its more like vomitting. I have had every test ran to check for anatomicall abnormalities and she doesn't have it just a SEVERE case of AR!!!
SO today I had to sale some personal items bc the 1 can they gave me for the rest of the month (24-30th) is gone and she needed more! WTF Seriously
Now im done Im going in tomorrow to give someone a piece of my mind bc this is freaking rediculous

They suck. They did that to me after i had my gall bladder removed when my milk dried up at 3 months pp. . . I had to have my doctor call them and tell them that I cannot breast feed period. They gave me 2 cans for the month...
They still only give me 4 cans a month. I buy off of craigslist.

I hate the women at my WIC office.. jesus.. it's like they have no brain. I'm sorry that they are just so difficult.. just go back and press the issue until they give in. Your doc is right! Not them!

We can't get WIC for our formula, even with a perscription, because its NestleGoodStartand the only 2 kinds they cover here are Enfamil and Similac, which btw i think EVERY baby i know has had problems with Similac. Its so retarded. So we've had to pay for every can out of pocket so far. and its $25 a can here. grr.

My son was BF and had severe AR. We ended up trying every formula there is basically. The Enfamil AR is the only one he can keep down. He is doing sooo much better. He's been on it sincehe was a few months old and is a happy healthy non spitting up baby now. This isn't helping your wic situation at all, I know, but there is hope for AR babies and even tho I felt like shit for having to stop breast feeding I feel amazing knowing I did what was right for my son instead everyone elses idea of whats best.

I just got WIC last month and now that my LO is here I think I might stop. I am breastfeeding so I really don't need anything. So far we have saved like $10?? It's not really worth having to go in so often and I hear they take blood from baby? I feel kinda strange about that. They aren't my kid's doctor and I really don't think they should. To me it feels like an invasion of privacy. If I can prove I take him to the doctor appropriately they shouldn't need it. I also didn't want them to check my iron levels. I told them to call my doctor but they refused and made me do it anyway.

Same here. I made it known I wasn't, and wasn't really pushed any further.

Good start is one of the formulas they give here. Weird they dont give it with a prescription for it.

I'd do 2 things at the same time- 1- Ask your doc to write an Rx for a specific number of cans and, 2- Ask to speak with her supervisor and explain what you did here, that you are beside yourself with not being able to BF your baby but that the BM is harmful at this point.
Also, there may be a time in the future when you can switch to a standard formula. Let them know that you know that and that you will switch her to a standard formula then.

That does sound like a bit much. Are these registered nurses doing this or just some woman from the state?
